Indeed. That's the impression I got from reading about him. It's worth noting that the Clash were partly in debt to their record company for so long because they held much the same attitudes (didn't want to listen to business talk) and as well as very idealistic ideas of what they should do for their fans. (Like keep down ticket prices even though management said it wasn't feasible for the size of the venues they were playing.)
