Is this Mignola sketch for real?

yeah i saw it and it was weird...the guy whose gallery it is, posts on another blog..i'll ask him about it..but it truly is weird

I was looking through this post and checked out the
link to the ebay, and was expecting some horrible drawing..

Thats totally mignola! Its even mignola with a twist on the style
which is probably impossible for anyone to do, unless they're
some mignola clone genius!
Although the inks look rather dark...LOL!
Maybe it is a pastiche fake though, some of the
shadows look kind of lumpy in the coat, all french curvy looking,
but if it was colored it would be harder to notice...
LOL I was expecting some drawing like this for the ebay mignola:D

Sorry, but they both look fake to me from the first glance. There's no logic or style in lines or blacks in the first picture, so it's a very obvious fake. Proportions are wrong too.

Yeah, and the neck shadows look too squirrelly in the neck and collarbone.
In retrospect, I think someone might have put it all together
in mspaint or something and printed it out for some poor sucker.

There are ton of images in this thread, so I want to clarify that I am talking about the Darkseid sketch.

Nick is correct. The sketch and signature look very solid to me. Mike's early signature is very different than his current one, but I would be very comfortable stating that you have an authentic sketch and authentic signature.

Moving on to the image that Andy Circus posted of hellboy with wings. That looks like someone traced a Mignola sketch and then tried to fake the signature. The signature looks completely wrong. Furthermore, Mike puts his date in the block under his signature. But for the year 2000, he used an empty box. On this one, someone has put a 00 in the box, dough! On the drawing, the hellboy face looks close (but not right), but the folds in the jacket look completely wrong. I always hate to declare something a fake, but this looks like it was traced and modified just enough to not look like a copy. I would stay away from this one!

The posts you're commenting on are over two years old. If you read the whole thread, you'll see Christine herself confirmed that the sketch is genuine and the fake was already roundly refuted. :)

I don't think Adam has posted here for a year.
