Default If Hellboy had a soundtrack......

If Hellboy had a soundtrack, what bands do you think would work well for it? I know sometimes I like to listen to music while reading the comics, So I was just thinking. Here is my list of hopefuls.

    1. Breaking Benjamin
    2. KMFDM
    3. Dimmu Borgir
    4. Strata
    5. Cold
    6. Lollipop Lust Kill
    7. Nick Cave (obviously)
    8. Dave Matthews Band
    9. Mudvayne
    10. HIM
    11. Rammstein
    12. Killswitch Engage
    13. Dope

Well there is mine. Love it or hate it. What are your thoughts on a soundtrack for HB?

Hellboy would NOT listen to Dimmu Borgir. Nevernever not EVER.

    That being said....

    Tom Waits.
    Joy Division.
    King Crimson.
    The Kills (maybe).
    Echo and the Bunnymen (maybe).

*SIGH* I'm getting old, the only ones I know from the above two lists are Dave Matthews Band,Rammstein and Tom Waits.Tom waits is the only one I like and associate with HB ( this is most likely due to the fact that Ron Perlman bears a marked resemblance to Mr. Waits, and waits sings about the dead all the time). I suspect HB's musical tastes are pretty dated, considering his age and world weariness. just a thought.

I'm so out of the loop on music lately, but sometimes when I read Hellboy or look at Mignola artwork, I tend to hear:

    Morphine (lots of them)
    Tom Waits
    Klint
    Max Roach
    Buddy Rich Orchestra
    David Holmes

    And there you are...

No, no, no, Hellboy listens to Metallica, mostly the older stuff. Damage Inc., Wherever I May Roam, For Whom the Bell Tolls...

Trust me on this one, I'm sure of it. He's been a fan right from the start. He even helped them work out an issue with a haunted tour bus once. :D

Deja vu all over again. Didn't another thread have this topic? Maybe I'm getting old.

I think that H.B. would listen to Tom Waits, heavy metal, and 1960's Motown - but in my heart of hearts, I'd hope he liked Mars from Gustav Holst: The Planets Suite. Maybe that's because it's the soundtrack in my mind when I'm reading H.B.

This is a poor rendition of it; I'm only submitting it just to give you an idea. I highly recommend buying a decent recording.

    Holst rocks!

i think he'd listen more to classic rock w/a mix of classical music mixed in,rather than modern or alternative music.remember he was brought up by a british guy ;)

Far too many new bands in that list, 666. Remember: Big Red was born in the 40s. That said, I'll have to wait 'til I get home to do this list. Hell, I may end up with a nice mix cd after this exercise. :)

He seems like a Men at Work kind of guy to me. Anyone else remember that kick ass video with the animated GI Joes, to "it's a mistake?" But other than that I would guess he would like whatever music his "dad" played for him, which I am guessing is more along the lines of classical artists like Beethoven, Wagner and Bach, but I don't know. I don't know it as well as you guys do.

Ha Ha! Cool, Fiddler, that's exactly what I imagined while reading. In fact, I had to go play it at the time.

Umm, HB probably grew up listening to Elvis.

And I'm not sure if he'd like the themesong I wrote for him: http://www.arsmagicae.com/hellboy.html

Definitely Cash, and definitely Tom Waits .... probably some choice old blues (ie: Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, Blind Lemmon Jefferson)
