Thy don't crossover in the traditional sense. Part 1 in X-Men, Part 2 in Wolverine. That hasn't happened for a good long while. There are certain events though that happen in an X-book that will probably reflect somewhat in other x-boks. Part of a shared universe.
The 3 main books are Uncanny X-Men, X-Men: Legacy, and Astonishing X-Men (the upcoming issue 25 should be a great place to jump onbaord).Besides reading Uncanny, what else should I read to keep me up with all the storylines?
Yes. But it's now titled X-Men Legacy. It just switched to that title a couple months ago.Do they still make the new X-Men that started in the 90's.
An alternate universe X-Men. You can ignore it altogether if you want to.What is Ultimate X-Men all about.
If you want my advice, just pick up the newest issues and dive right in. All the books have recap pages and if you have trouble catching up you can always ask questions here (there's a thread at the top of this forum for questions like that) or just read summaries of issues at www.uncannyxmen.net
Whoa, thanks for all the help.
So I do not have to worry about a Wolverine coming up in the next few weeks and reading, "continues in X-whatever".
I am only up to Wolverine 35 and liking it. I would love to buy a big run on ebay of Uncanny but the $ are really high, X must be popular.
Should I go back and read all this CIvil War, Messiah Complex stuff? I would like to but just lost I guess.
I would say for the X-Line. A good jump on point would be Post House of M.
Messiah Complex might help you understand what is going on right now, but Civil War is useless, nothing happened. Unless you are a fan of Captain America lol.
I think Uncanny X-Men #500 might also be a good jump on point, but it hasn't come out yet, so I wouldn't know.
Nah, you don't have to worry about that.
Eh. You don't have too. Civil War barely involves the X-Men at all. You might want to go back and read Messiah Complex since it was the big X-crossover. After it ended the books have gone into Divided We Stand, which isn't really a crossover but more a "banner" running over all the books at the moment. I'm sure there are people selling the whole Messiah Complex story on Ebay for a reasonable price. It's probably a decent jumping on point, especially if you're interested in the X-Force or Cable books.Should I go back and read all this CIvil War, Messiah Complex stuff? I would like to but just lost I guess.
I wouldn't read Civil War. Wolverine didn't have a big part of it, if that's what you're wondering.Whoa, thanks for all the help.

Messiah Complex is fairly good. X-Men Legacy has a lot to do with the after effects of it and what happens to Professor Xavier.
Agaon, thanks guys. I will start checking out some recent X runs on eBay and elsewhere, I cannot wait.
Oh yeh, what is the cheapest way to get comics, that arrive in nrmt condition?
I get Wolverine direct from Marvel (got a year sub for 12.00), half the time it comes racked up.
Do Uncanny, X Legacy and Astonishing all tie in together? What is House of M?
Uncanny X-Men and X-Men Legacy did tie together during the Messiah Complex crossover, but other than big crossovers they've been independent books with their own stories since the late 90's. Astonishing X-Men hasn't crossed over at all. You can read any of them without reading the others.
House of M was the big crossover a couple years ago. Mainly it ewas an 8 isue mini series about an altered reality caused by the Scarlet Witch. The real significance to the X-books came at the end when Scarlet Witch uttered the words "no more mutants". Her powers wiped the mutant genome out of 99.99999% percent of the population. Mutants like Jubilee, the Blob, Mirage, etc ceased to be mutants and lost their powers. So now there are approximately 198 mutants left on the world (coincidentally most of them X-Men).
And that's basically what the books have been dealing with since 2004.

google/wiki can answer most questions..
Thanks guys. Do Uncanny and X-Men Legacy feature the same characters?
Is the new X-Force good? whats the story? should i get it?
also, can i follow uncanny xmen storline without followinf the xmen:legacy or Young xmen story line?
Taken from wiki for the first question:
On the other question, yes you can follow the Uncanny X-Men story without reading Legacy or YXM. They're all separate stories."There are lines that the X-Men have sworn never to cross. But after the shocking events of “Messiah Complex,” Cyclops realizes that some enemies need to be dealt with permanently… and the X-Men can never know about it".[6] The enemies in question are the Purifiers, their leader, Matthew Risman, the reassembled Bastion and the techno-organic Magus. It was also suggested in an issue of Wizard that Tony Stark aka Iron Man might become a target by forcing mutants to register with the Initiative.
