I heard a rumor that Lucas was going to re-release Star Wars yet again, this time (using some technological process I couldn't possibly understand) in 3D. Anybody else hear about this?

Yeah, I heard that too... Although I am at a loss as to how he plans to make a 2-D movie 3-D. Maybe....

I though it was just going to be Episode III that was going to be in 3D.
The current release of Episode III will be in classic 2D style.
Lucas has hinted that he might re-release the whole sextet in 3D, somewhere down the road.
It still won't stop Jar-Jar from sucking.

No I'm pretty sure 3D will make him suck even more, if that's even possible.Originally Posted by Inkthinker

I can't tell you how many time I've watched Phantom Menace and thought "There's not nearly enough Jar Jar in this movie. He doesn't need to be just stupid, he needs to be stupid in 3-D."
Lucas needs to give us more Jar Jar, and cut out all those damn Darth Maul scenes ;)

As diehard Star Wars fan who actully likes the prequels I won't watch the 3-D flims becuse:
1) 3-D is a cheap gimick from the 50's
2) all the 3-D I seen looks bad
3) 3-D is uslly so blurer that you can't see half of it anyway
4) wearing those glasses for too long give me a headach

Because the 6 Star Wars films are digital, there is a new, inexpensive process to make them 3-D. It is supposed to be far superior to 1950s and even 1980s 3-D. Even 3-D hater Roger Ebert has been won over with the latest technology.
James Cameron and George Lucas announce there intentions to do the 3D on their old films (including Titanic) late last week.

The six star wars films are not all done digitally. Only Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith are. The other films were done on celluloid. Hope, Empire and Returns only digital portions were some of the effects that were reworked for the re-releases.

The original 3 were done ORIGINALLY on celluloid, but they've long since been digitally converted in their entirety, if I'm not mistaken... now all 6 exist in the digital format.

Lucas's need to make money never shocks me. He's richer than god now. Whats the point of this ? Really...whats the point of doing It In 3-D ? I can put the glasses on at home and watch the movies all at home and save 8 bucks for a ticket.
