So about that cliff hanger? Kate's going to have to take it out on someone.

I liked how Batwoman uses her cape offensively against the crook by using it to both wrap around his arm and pull him in, I've always wondered why more bats don't do that.
    Pull list:
Batgirl, Earth 2, Inhuman, Justice League Beyond 2.0, Letter 44, She-Hulk, Swamp Thing, Ultimate FF

I'm kinda getting Watchmen vibes from this preview. Mainly the bar scene where Rorschach beats the crap out of people for information.

And I might just be a minority, but if something happens between Maggie and Kate, I'm jumping ship, and that's from someone who was a massive supporter of this title after Blackman and Williams left.

Well, if the Batman: Eternal teaser is anything to go by, I think it's safe to get off the plank.

While I don't feel like anything will happen, this preview scares me a little. I feel like their relationship at this point makes up the heart of the book and it'd be disappointing to see it gone. Plus it'd seem more like editorial's doing than Andreyko's.

Also, no one's said it yet, but Haun's art is something. It's not Williams III, but I dig it.

Honestly, I think they need to make their relationship a little rocky. I mean, the bit that made me jump ship from the JHW3 run is just how fake and happy the relationship has been. Their whole relationship was built on lies and deceit from Kate hiding her identity, and as Batwoman she caused a lot of Maggie's issues at work.

Could I see the two building up the bridge of that relationship and getting married someday? Sure. But I don't think, with the way they've portrayed each other, they're at that stage. Both of them, especially Kate, needs to build more trust with Maggie.

It is something. IMO it's a lot less of a jarring shift from McCarthy to Haun than it was from Williams to McCarthy. I think I like it better than McCarthy, or ant least find it easier to like.

The thing I liked about McCarthy was that he kept layouts that felt like a Williams issue. The layouts were something I fell in love with in regards to the series anyway, so seeing it move on from that is disappointing, but Haun sold me on those Villain's Month issues that I knew he was gonna kill it on Batwoman. And last issue was amazing because Manapul came on for a few pages. Epic stuff.

As for the rocky relationship, I do agree. But keep it super rocky and don't flat out end it. Sure I wouldn't mind it if it was temporary and part of an arc, but if it just ends, it makes Kate another depressed Bat character. And yeah, their marriage needs to happen later, but not now, which if Blackman and Williams wanted to end their last arc with it, I'm kind of glad DC blocked it, since it might have ended in divorce.

I just can't get into this after the way Williams quit/fired/whatever this book. It wasn't the greatest book with him on it, pretty self-indulgent most of the time, but it looked really damn cool when he drawing it. Now it just feels like a shell of itself and it's leaving me cold. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, but it's kind of a bummer.

If they had just been allowed to finish their run before a new writer took over, then I would feel a lot differently.
Hey, Big Two, take your 3.99 books and stick 'em!

Yep, I was quite put off by that as well but at least the JH Williams storyline will finish in Aprils Batwoman Annual 2. It is Andreyko concluding the arc from JH's notes...but it's better than no ending at all. and hey, JH and Blackman were planning on leaving the book at this point anyway.

Unfortunately, the current regime at DC won't let that happen. If anything, they'll make the relationship worse. Because apparently all superheroes must have shitty personal lives. And it does feel like this conflict in their relationship is also forced, just this time DC editorial is forcing it to justify their idiotic "no marriage" edict.

Is it forced, I mean you pretty much spent all your time lying to me and made my job extra hard putting me and my co-workers at risk. Even after you tell the truth realsticlly there needs to be some fallout in their relationship. That not even considering the conflict if intrst of Maggie knowing that Kate and Bette are Vigilantes.

I felt JH Williams made they're relationship move too quickly when even before the reveal Kate and Maggie were having issues.

To each their own I guess.
