I loved the previous GOTG comics. (The current books not so much) But I am a little worried about this film, Gunn seems like a cool guy I'm just not that big a fan of his previous work. I really hope this film lives up to the hype though.

He's very wacky. Dawn of the Dead (screenplay), Super and Slither all turned out pretty good, but the rest is.............yeah.

Actually my understanding is his Dawn of the Dead screenplay is a**, complete with that zombie baby chasing them around the mall, and zombies flipping, and having spider-man like abilities, and that Zack Snyder purged a ton of it during filming to bring it closer to the spirit of the original, thus making it a half decent remake.

I'm hoping for good things from this movie, James Gunn was responsible for bringing back DnA for the comic book tie-ins of the movie and referred to them as the Godfather's of Modern Cosmic Marvel. So at least we know he's respectful of the source material, much more so than even the current comic book is.

Whatever the case, these figures look NICE! I'm buying them all fo'sho'.

idk, IMO the Godfather of Modern Cosmic Marvel is Giffen and while I really liked the long series, the best modern GotG graphic book is still the first one, Annihilation: Conquest - Starlord

btw, a bit of the trailer leaked in a GIF form.

Would make sense if Legends did a comic version of Star Lord, but I'm not holding my breath. Definitely want the Groot figure; wish it wasn't a BAF.

These will hopefully be released as a boxed set. And maybe a separate larger version of Rocket Raccoon.

And pretty good marketing just few days in advance of the trailer.

I'd say Giffen is the FATHER of Modern Marvel cosmic if anything.
The "Space Jail" stuff I've seen in the leaked Comicon trailer months ago definitely seems to borrow from the Annihilation: Conquest - Starlord mini.
They have the NOVA corps in place of the Kree as the jailers this time and Ronan and Nebula are the baddies in place of the Phalanx/Ultron.
The movie Guardians actually start out more like a group thieves, possibly lead by Yondu at first and THEN Peter Quill (once Yondu most likely gets smashed by Ronan).
Speaking of Yondu, I hope we are getting a nice "Space Merle" to go along with the rest of the movie cast.

Oh, and a Vol.2 comic book ML Star Lord was confirmed a while back, W00t!

Very much looking forward to GotG, but IMO...those figures looks terrible. I wonder how it would look if I was 10 to 15 years old?

    Movie looks figures?
I'll get RR at most, I'm not paying 17 bucks for a dude with a coat.
I'll pay 17 for a little raccoon but not for a dude with a coat.

I would love to see the classic Star-Lord or even the one with the Annihilation costume they used in the GotG relaunch. I guess I just really want a Star-Lord action figure. I hope the movie one includes the mask.
