Oh, wow! I've been saying for months now that it would be awesome if they actually cast Shipp as Barry Allen's dad. I hope this is what they're doing.

That would be one option. But that means we'd have to see him behind prison bars all the time. Which yeah they can milk some drama out of that.

But they can also make him Jay Garrick.

It would be more than perfect to cast him as Jay Garrick. Heck, Shipp now even looks like a spitting image of Garrick, gray temples and all.

Anyway that they can work in Garrick inspiring Barry to become Flash would be a pretty cool nod to the comics and the previous series.

I really, really hope it's Jay Garrick. Not only would it be great from a storyline perspective in the show (we've never seen the legacy hero concept on film before), but because the comic companies like to tie things in their main books to film and TV adaptations it increases the chances of a proper Golden Age group of heroes being restored to continuity.

Jay Garrick or maybe Barry's incarcerated father?

I would LOVE if he's Jay, especially if this does tie into the movie universe. I would KILL for an on-screen JSA.

My top 4 guesses, from most likely to least likely:

    1) Jay Garrick
    2) Barry's dad
    3) Max Mercury
    4) Flash's future self (they've got to use time travel at some point with a Flash series)

If not Jay, then Zoom/Reverse Flash, revealing him to be the one responsible for Barry's mother's death.

I was thinking he could be Jay Garrick who was the star of Barry's favourite tv show as a kid The Flash. This is what inspires him to become The Flash like in the comics.

Or maybe and this is just me hoping for a Booster Gold guest spot, he could be Rip Hunter.

Great to see John in some role in the new series. I hope they cast him in a good part. I really enjoyed the old Flash series with him as Barry.
