Firing Toad makes absolutely no sense whatsoever! Especially when you consider The White Queen, Gambit, Fantomex, Magneto, etc. have all or are still counted amongst the ranks of the XMen. Not to mention how lowly Toad has been treated since his inception. There is still great story potential for this character beside being a mutant punching bag. The problem I have with Marvel and the treatment of their characters is that fact that there is never truly any character development. Every new writer that takes on these characters will take two or three steps back for every one step forward a different writer had taken a character. Iceman is the best example of this ping-pong, yo-yo handling. Storm and Rachel also come to mind. These characters get pigeonholed or stagnate because a writer "wants to take them back to what makes the character blah, blah, blah..." ignoring any and all of the developments that has pushed the character beyond their originally conceived parameters. It is frustrating reading characters responding to siyuations the same way over and over without any maturation, insight, or benefit of their experience.
