Scotland . . . an "Island" nation? . . . you do realise why the rest of the world mocks the US's geographical knowledge of the rest of the planet . . .

Scotland is located on the island of Great Britain.

I've never been quite comfortable with the definition of "island".

According to the Oxford English Dictionary: 1 - a piece of land surrounded by water

For some reason though the Americas and the Europe/Asia/Africa landmass are considered to not be islands for some reason that escapes me.

Just a correction about BAD ASS: It's not in origin "a 48 page European album" but a 96 page OGN that Dynamite is splicing it into 4 pamphlets, but hey, at least there's no reduction since the original is at US size too. If anything, they should have published it straight to TBP or HC like the original.

BAD ASS belongs to a label called "Comics Fabric" from major publisher Delcourt, which is composed of US-comic-mimicking books: comics done by French creators, but imitating the US idiom of comic-books. Some of them are even superhero-ish and the format is the same: 96 page tomes. In fact, the books are published and promoted within the same line they publish their US translations: Walking Dead, Star Wars, Hellboy, lots of Image books, etc. with the clear intention of blending in as if they were just another American import.

That said, kudos are in order because you're the first American reviewer who's even aware of the basic fact that BAD ASS is an European import. Here you can see a roundup of some reviews:

    http://comicbookroundup.com/comic-bo...ment/bad-ass/1

but there's more out there and none of them has a clue about the origin of the book, as if they thought it's just another Dynamite US title. Also, some of them mention the "abrupt ending" of the "first issue" like you do but you're the only one who knows the reason so you don't complain about it like them.

Similar to how the US is an island as it's located on the Island of North and South America? (admittedly a big island)

I really can't get on-board with these monthly comics that chop up original graphic novels into 20-24 page chunks. It was silly when Humanoids did it for Metabarons too. Even sillier were the Metabarons TPBs from Humanoids that each reprinted 2.5 volumes.
