While drawing Smurfs earlier this week, Augie learned some lessons about art from the works of Rob Liefeld.

I agree with you about Rob. His work was fun - that's why he became so popular. Now we have a bunch of crabs on the internet who hate fun - but back in those days, fun was where it was at!

It's a little sad that his work seemed to get worse over time instead of better, and so many of his projects ended early or never came out, and there are many other complaints to be made - but his work on X-Force and the New Mutants was certainly exciting back in the day, and I loved his work on Hawk and Dove before that.

Actually the cover shown is not New Mutants 92, it is 100. This was then used for the cover for the HC collection "A Force to be Reckoned With".

I loved his work on Hawk and Dove - but then when I saw his work on Cable and the New Mutants I saw nothing of the artist I'd previously liked. I assume the main difference was in the inks - I've heard Karl Kesel worked wonders on Hawk and Dove.

    That said, Cable looked great.

Just read this today, since I'm not often on CBR anymore.
Really like the article and the X-Force smurfs.
