I would buy this if Nick Spenser had nothing to do with it.

    Banner's weirdly flip.

    Has he been self medicating?

I wonder what would happen if Banner started megadosing Prozac or downing Bennies by the fistful.

Will definitely be trying this when it comes out. Not much to go on story wise in the preview but the art looks nice.

Welcome to the current state of Marvel Comics, where the characters are informed by a 2012 movie rather than 50+ years of publishing history.

I think he's cynical about whether or not the idea of Avengers and Shield working more closely together will work hence the remarks he's making, that's my two cents anyways lol.

This reads like Waid's oddly hubristic Banner.

When he's been given any speaking lines worth commenting on in the Avengers, he's been a depressive mope.
Of course that was with either DeConnick or Barbara Kessel writing him. Hickman's Banner has no personality to speak of.

That is why this is so jarring to me in this book.

I need more Hyperion. & chatty, sarcastic Banner is refreshing. Maybe he's just comfortable and in control.

I think Hyperion is suposed to feature heavily in this first issue or at least the first story arc of Avengers World anyway, could be wrong but you never know.

This is not another argument about whether Wolverine should be an Avenger or not, or even that he shouldn't be on the cover.

My only complaint is that he looks dumb on that cover. I get his pose is line with the others, but it doesn't fit him.

I'll be picking this up inspite of Spencer on writing duties because he's being overseen by Hickman.

Not only that but he's not even an Avenger anymore.

Just curious, but what's the problem with Spencer?

Not sure I entirely find Banner's characterization in-character (I don't read his solo book so I'm probably not the best judge of that), but I did find it actually enjoyable. If that's not Banners unsual characterization, maybe it should be.
