You know, it was not until I got older, and maybe more appreciative and sophisticated <right>, that I really began to appreciate Cardy's art. I wish I had gotten to meet the gentleman, especially with my interest in WWII. I would have loved to ask him some questions about his WWII art book, "The Artist at War". Rest well Mr. Cardy.

One of my all time favorites. RIP.
    My blog.

We struggled against apartheid in South Africa, supported by people the world over, because black people were being blamed and made to suffer for something we could do nothing about; our very skins. It is the same with sexual orientation. It is a given.

Sad day. He was such a great artist, one of the very best. Whenever I think about the silver age of comics, I always picture a Nick Cardy drawing.

I'm sure one of the Titans of that era would have said, "I'm not digging this news, Daddio" :( RIP

One of the greatest most underrated comic artists of all time. His storytelling was crisp and clear, not to mention his style crossed over into superheroes perfectly. I always loved it when he mixed monsters, beautiful women and superheroes into a cover.

Meet him many of time at the Florida Cons. Wonderful to talk with. Loved the fans.

    Thank you, Cardy.

Oh, and one more thing, Nelson, DiDio, and Lee should STOP making statements when they are hollow just like they are.

If they'd issued no statement, you'd gripe about that. Choke back your DC Exec hate for one day, heck ONE THREAD, and just note the passing of one of the Silver Age greats.

Cardy's redesign of Wonder Girl is still the iconic image for me. The Perez costume is more closely associated with Donna but Cardy's original was the best. A true legend that will live on.

I loved his covers. Truly a giant has passed, but I was happy to have enjoyed his work.
