"Green Arrow" #23.1 has Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino not only tell the origin of Count Vertigo; they also make readers actively want to check out the rest of their run. That's exactly what this promotion should do.
Well done review. I really enjoyed this issue a lot and I've been reading Lemire's run from the start. I like how you mention the evolution of his character throughout the issue, I thought Lemire did a great job of writing that out and Sorrentino and Maiolo knocked it out of the park with the art. I also agree that these one-shots should be used as attention grabbers for the reader to become interested in the rest of the story.
Thanks to Greg McElhatton for writing an insightful review of a book that is always superbly written and brilliantly illustrated. Very gracious of you to also note the work of colorist Maiolo who's done amazing work adding a gritty flavor with muted palette that plays up the intensely gripping emotion of Lemire's story and Sorrentino's pencils.
I hope this issue and the upcoming Batman crossover bring Jeff & Andrea's classic Green Arrow run the wider audience it so very much deserves.
