"Not formed from clay" . . .
Grant Morrison: TROLOLOLOLO~!
20 of the 120 pages are completed? So we'll see this by next summer, maybe?
I can't but help feel like they should have gotten Marco Rudy to help out based on his Swamp Thing work.
How is it that only 20 pages are completed? Hasn't Paquette been working on this?
Currently reading and loving: Daredevil, Deadpool, Avengers Arena, The Sixth Gun (TPB)
Suggestions are welcome.
It's a direct graphic novel. The last thing I'd want is more than one artist on it.
So, I thought the name change would have meant it wasn't part of the Earth One line. I'm going to read this (and hopefully is good), but if it is good, it will be in the same family of books as those dreadful Superman and Batman: E1 books.
I'm so tired of writers changing her origin and trying to pass it off as something other than they don't like it or can't write it effectively. The idea that 's she formed from clay isn't "remote" or "creepy", it's her origin. Superman being from another planet isn't remote? His ENTIRE PLANET being destroyed killing the parents he never knew and being the sole survivor of his people isn't creepy or remote? People are given rings by aliens, bitten by spiders, witness the cold blooded murder of their parents, are brain washed and experimented in labs with metal fused to their bones, come from a world of gods where their adopted nut job brother is a danger, are frozen in a chunk of ice after fighting nazis in WW II.....etc etc etc.
Super-heroes are remote. Origins can be creepy. He should read the Perez/Potter origin issue and Gail Simone's 'The Circle' and see how it's epic, wonderous, awe inspiring, mythical and an all around great fictional read.
Regardless...we've had the origin changed before and this isn't canon (although it's already been changed in the new 52) and I'm glad to see that they're FINALLY giving WW a shot with this new venture since they never went forward with her All Star launch but let's not take the original origin to task because you as an individual writer didn't want to use it/didn't feel up to the task of telling a great story with it.
Okay if she gets a subtitle, the OTHER EARTH ONE STORIES NEEDS A SUBTITLE TOO.
I like this. I've always disliked "man's world" as it makes the Amazons look like strawmen who can't recognise the differences between the old world and the new.She runs away with him back to Man's World, and it's not Man's World -- It's half-Man's World, half-Woman's World.
"Batman is this force that appears out of nowhere behind a guy or all the sudden comes through the window like a man-sized brick and the note attached is a serious ass-whooping"
Yanick Paquette can only work on seven issues a year. I don't believe he's working on any other series at the moment. Hopefully he'll be done by spring and they can release it for Summer of 2014.
Possibly Wonder Woman Earth One Vol. 1 in Summer and then Batman Earth One Vol. 2 in Winter.
I'm gonna guess 2015. There will no doubt be other short term projects (distractions) thrown Paquette's way.
