From what I recall reading about it, Quesada asked for the change at a pretty late point in time, IIRC when the first instalment(s) was already printed or on the way to the printers, so there was a very limited time to come up with a "fix". It is a bit like Jim Shooter being responsible for the death of Phoenix, he did not specifically ask for her to be killed, but in the shortness of time (basically they had a weekend to come up with a resolution that fit Shooter's stipulations) killing her off was all that Claremont and Byrne could come up with and implement in order to make the deadline. Also, according to a statement Straczynski the decision to make Norman the twins' father was jointly taken by the entire creative and editorial team.

Seems to me you missed out the Joe Q/Jemas regime.

He's been easy to hate him since 2000, he and Bendis and Jemas turned Marvel into something I didn't like much.

It's now 2013, talk about 13 years of suffering.

Not sure who got portrayed as child-murderers, or what crazy sex scenes those are.
Uncanny XForce when Fantomex, though hated by some, is still a 'hero' in the marvel universe. XForce Sex and Violence awesome mini and a whole lot of violence and some sex, or you could probably fine something similar with Mystique or some other character's back catalog. I said it before that I was commenting on the hypocrisy of eliminating fictional smoking from comics when fictional violence and fictional sex is still fair play. If marvel wanted to dedicate storylines to the dangers of smoking and then donate funds to whatever organization then more power to them. Let me know and I'll shell out some of my cash. But having characters light up is no more glorifying tobacco than Punisher is murder or Quire using Kick glorifying drug use.

I don't "hate" Quesada personally, I just took umbrage with some of his statements defending a crappy story which aversely impacted a character I used to love (and in many ways, I still do). Statements like "Spider-Man wasn't meant to grow up with you" and all kinds of likewise condescending remarks. No one expected Spidey to age but neither did we want him to stay frozen in place, like Archie Andrews. Heck, as I pointed out, even Pebbles Flinstone grew up but her baby counterpart co-existed. Teen Aged Pebbles was restricted to one title while her baby counter part appeared in other comics and most of the commercially liscensed formats. Were the people at Hanna-Barbera (or Charlton?!) smarter than those who worked for Marvel? It sure seemed that way.

In many other entertainment venues, you rarely hear of the representatives from various companies actually showing borderline contempt for their fans--except for maybe a celebrity who is in between his or her most recent trips to Rehab!
HA! That would be awful and funny if Rehabs belittled their patients publicly. Seriously though, it is a big turn off to see one of the comic book professionals stoop down to asenine internet behavior.

What I don't like is he fuels this US vs THEM mentality, and most of their "new" arcs are the same old stuff from the 80s and 90s recycled....I don't really care for buying DC or Marvel anymore. I buy a small number and love the classic Marvel stories but these days I deliberately invest in IDW, Boomstudios, Image, Dynamite etc
Joe spent too much time creating drama and flame wars....and in some kinds of business like this there is no such thing as bad publicity
For example there was this gem Joe gave
-“What the F**k is DC anyway?” Mr. Quesada said, stoking the fires. “They’d be better off calling it AOL Comics. At least people know what AOL is. I mean, they have Batman and Superman, and they don’t know what to do with them. That’s like being a pornostar with the biggestdick and you can’t get it up. What the F**K?” (Paul Levitz, DC’s president and publisher, declined to comment for this story through a spokesperson.) –
terrible comment by somebody professionally paid to sell toons and books

Have been looking up discussions and articles on Queseda's reign as EIC tonight in part due to a discussion about various comic company's bans on smoking and drinking in comics. A (locked I assume, as it had no replies enabled on it) thread expressing outrage at Queseda's Smoking Ban came to my attention, and I had to chuckle at this supposed totalitarian-esque outright ban on smoking in comics during Queseda's reign. I can cite a truckload of different issues published under this so-called mandate that explicitly featured characters - heroes and villains - smoking and drinking themselves into oblivion.

If that was supposedly a top-down editorial mandate, it was sure as hell never enforced to any degree.
