    Swan. Not even debatable.

    Again? Oh well: Curt Swan.

Followed by Byrne, Jurgens and Perez (donīt know in what order).

    Any other answer is wrong.
Desaad: Guess they found out [Mr. Mastermind] was Holmes?

ABH-1979: Really? I don't think so. I actually liked Holmes...

Fraid it's Curt Swan... But that said, I voted for Gil Kane as well. I do love me some Gil Kane. Hard strokes, cross-hatching to beat all hell... Every movement was full of action and faces were full of emotion. Definitely one of the all time greats.

Of course it's debatable, based mainly on the meaning and interpretation of the word "definitive." To me it means the artist whose rendition comes first and immediately to mind when I think of the character. That's not Curt Swan for me. It's not even any of the artists in the poll. Swan's rendition defined a particular era of the character's existence, but there's a whole generation of Superman fans who came to the character after that era and many of them may have never even read a Superman comic drawn by Swan.

And these things always kind of irk me when they exclude artists who had long runs on a character in favor of an artist who basically drew one or two stories of note featuring the character.

Similarly to my reply to the other thread, for me it's Jurgens. I know other came before and they defined who the character was and what he looked like however Jurgens was the main reason I started reading the title in the early 90s so it's his work I always think of when asked this question.

Jurgens and Swan are co-number 1's in my book, but I voted for Jurgens.

I could understand Jim Lee if by "definitive" they meant "marketable."

There's so many great artists in that list who spent a decent amount of time on the books. I wish Dc could just tie down a couple of good creative teams. Give them the ball and let them run with it. That's obviously what they did in the 80's and 90's and it worked.

I would have to pick between Jurgens, Perez, Byrne, Adams, Quitely, and Swan so REALLY tough choice.
