I believe it was a former President of the United States who said it best "The buck stops here". Meaning the blame basically will always be on the President since he's the leader of the free world. I believe it was Harry Truman . Maybe someone with more expertise will tell me once I'm done posting this to tell me for sure. But I believe I'm 65% sure that it was Harry Truman who said it. Truman wasn't a very political man. In fact if anyone saw the great Truman bio on HBO years ago , his reaction to becoming president when Eisenhower died was one of the best stunned reactions in history.
"Mrs . Eisenhower , what can I do for you ?" he asked.
Mrs. Eisenhower looked up at him and basically said , "No Harry , its not what you can do for me. Its what we can do for you now."
Its the moment Harry Truman , a simple farmer as he'd say ....became the President and knew his life was drastically different. He took on responsibility as they say and it was a big responsibility.
This isn't about Harry Truman though even though he's an example. No... this is about the lack of responsibility someone has and how the pursuit of money seems to drive people to be dickheads.
MTV's "Buckwild" was a reality TV show that was basically MTV's attempt to mock West Virginia , after 7-8 seasons of mocking New Jersey with "Jersey Shore". The camera would follow a bunch of wild teens around doing dumb stuff and make a show out of it. Numerous people appealed to MTV to not air the show for the stigma it would cause as usual. Since most view WV as that anyhow. Joe Manchin even tried but MTV saw $$$$ and went full steam ahead. They just never realized the horrible shit that laid ahead.
You pay a bunch of wild kids a nice big paycheck your basically handing them a weapon to their own demise. In fact within months a few stars of the show were arrested for drugs and more. In fact here is one link...
Not so pretty is it. But she wasn't the only cast member. A couple more were busted for basically drugs and all. It became a running joke "Another Buckwild star is arrested" if you look. Because the kids were given fame and $$$ ...and it led to a lot of insane shit. The final blow was what happened to the young boy on the left in green. Shain Gandee was one of the comical stars of the show who would always do something crazy from what was shown. Gandee 2 weeks ago went out drinking and partying with relatives , decided to go mudding late that cold night and died with them inside an old pickup truck of carbon monoxide poisoning due to sleeping inside the pickup when it got stuck in mud.
MTV suspended production of the show for season #2 and decided today to cancel the show realizing the atmosphere they were allowing to happen. You would think the story here would end right. No...because the producer of the show went on a rant proclaiming how shitty the decision was and how he was responsible for these kids. No lie... he honestly said he was responsible for them.
Its the sad fact that J.P Williams clearly is a complete dick head. That he values $$$ more than anything. My show is cancelled...fuck MTV...fuck them hard. They have other shows that are worse.
Its a complete dodge for the fact that Williams did a horrible shitty job keeping watch of the ones he claimed he was watching. When your stars are getting popped for drugs and one dies....your doing an absolute worse job than your claiming. Clearly the "Buck" doesn't stop at Williams and never will. Its best to blame MTV.
Which MTV does get blame. They approved these horrible shit shows. They approved the mockery they get and how they have paid for self destructive young kids for years to be on TV and continue that. But for once they made a decision to not stand by and allow it for this any further. Love or hate it...least MTV did something responsible finally . You can't say the same for the producer who would rant and rave over his show ending and claim how responsible he was watching these kids.
That man is a complete piece of shit.
