ComiXology currently has titles like Sex, Black Kiss II, X-Force: Sex & Violence, Love & Rockets and many others on its system.

Why Saga #12 would magically be "unacceptable", and not the previous 11 issues, is absolutely beyond me.

Probably because theres an explicit picture of a person getting a blow job. They don't allow porn.

We congratulate Saga creator Brian K. Vaughan and Image Comics for any additional sales this publicity may have caused.
    Fixed that.

Actually "Sex" and "Black Kiss" are exactly the same as Saga 12, needing to be purchased online and then downloaded through the app. Sex and Violence passed because the sex was no different than any other mainstream book.

It sucks and is stupid, but in the grand scheme, it is an easy work around and Apple doesn't get a cut of the sales.

Yay for the internet era, when facts and reporting take a back-seat to instantaneous reaction.

And yet, both Image and Brian K Vaughan specifically identified Apple as the culprit. Image hasn't updated their official Tumblr with this news, either.

So - what happened? Did Comixology misrepresent the situation to Image/BKV? Or did Image/BKV leap to erroneous conclusions based on limited info?

There's still an interesting story here, but I doubt any of the parties involved will speak publicly about the matter.

Sex #1 and Black Kiss were not sold via the iOS app either, and X Force S&V barely has any actual sexual content, let alone unobscured genitals, oral sex, or semen on any faces.

Yeah this smells like PR, Apple telling ComiXology to take the fall. Makes sense as they are the bigger party here.
Too broke for a pull list.

Now that I didn't know. But it still remains that you can buy 'obscene' materials via the Apple Store.

I doubt that Apple would even care about this, to be honest. I mean, has this made much of a stir outside of the comics community? Are we really on Apple's radar?

This. Things like journalism and fact checking take a back seat on the importance bus behind instant Twitter posts and blog updates. But hey, free extra two day publicity for BKV and Saga, so everything worked out the way I think they wanted anyway.
