Watchmen was published before Vertigo was established.

Vertigo had superheroes when the imprint started.

I miss the convenience of having Vertigo as a handy collection of things I knew I wouldn't want to read.
    That makes me sad.
But no wonder now why you don't like the new Wonder Woman.

I am very happy for the return of this series. Is it too soon to ask for a 2nd Astro City book?

The contract isn't actually with DC, it's with Aegis Entertainment, Jim Lee's company that started Wildstorm and Homage. DC bought Aegis, thus buying the contract.

But none of the stuff that Alan Moore is so unhappy about in his WATCHMEN contract is in the ASTRO CITY contract.

Yes. Let's get one book, coming out monthly, before I start saying, "No, no second book."

Very excited for this, even though I've never read Astro City before.

Any pre-reading recommendations? I just ordered the recent reprinting of the original mini, but other than that...?

^It's all great. If you like the first collection, I'm sure you'll like the others.

But publication order of trades is
    Life in the Big City
    Confession
    Family Album
(the first three stories actually were printed before Confession)
    Tarnished Angel
    Local Heroes
    Dark Age Book 1
    Dark Age Book 2
    Shining Stars

You can pretty much start with any and out of any order and be fine. The first three though feature some of the best stories.

I was buying astro city when it first came out and I've always loved it. I've went back and reread the entire series after the announcement. I'm thrilled its coming back.

Funny, Astro City does NOT strike me as a "Mature Readers" title.

This is the best comic news I have heard in a while. If I could only read 1 comic it would be Astro City! I love everything about it. Thank you for bringing it back. I cannot wait!

    Cheers!

Back in the heyday we had Swamp Thing, Animal Man, and Doom Patrol but its all gone now. I love this idea!

My prediction : Astro City will be a sales winner for Vertigo!
It's like the only good idea that the company has made since this stupid "new 52."

Oh, yeah, I am getting the series!!

Yet it is because it dealt with very mature themes in a mature way.

"ASTRO CITY will be ASTRO CITY, just as it was at Image, Homage, Wildstorm Signature, Wildstorm, DC and Wizard." Oooh--
I get it now: you're trying to beat Usagi Yojimbo and Groo in the number of publishers to fly your banner! ah-HAH!
Well, I don't care who's your publisher--I'm just jubilant to have AC back in the bomic book field; I've been a reader since the very first #1, and expect to continue with ya until yer through. Welcome back!

I don't care who it's under as long as they don't deface that precious cover art.

I'm so much looking forward to this! Notice to DCU and Marvel U creators -- you're about to be schooled once again in how a superhero comic should be done!
