Default Venditti, DC State No Current Plans To Kill John Stewart

DC and "Green Lantern Corps" co-plotter Robert Venditti have stated that he has no current plans to kill John Stewart, contrary to a report earlier this week following the departure of Joshua Hale Fialkov.

So DC's officially backpedaled on the issue?

if DC Doesn't want anyone to talk about this then why would Venditti say anything? if there were plans to kill him they wouldn't want anyone to say anything about them right now

Either DC is trying to cover their tracks fast now that their cover was blown or they're deny it all from the start.

Which ever the answer is, DC is looking pretty bad right now.

Good, never liked Stewart that much but he's an African American icon and an idol to many.

    Now kill Kyle please.

I don't think they should kill Kyle, only because he plays off Guy very well. If anything they should've gone back to having Kyle paired up with Guy and let John be the Guardian of the White Light.

I mean I'm not sure I really understand why Kyle is the only Lantern capable of mastering the White Light. What makes his feelings better than everyone else's?

Ha! John Stewart, the White Lantern.

Sounds like a neat way of saying there aren't any plans now, without saying there never were.

But.... does this mean we can have Fiakolv back?

    ...

    Please?

Sorry, but I think that ship has sailed for the time being.

something tells me if Venditti had said there were plans to kill stewart that DC would instantly fire and blacklist Venditti forever...doesn't seem like something they would easily forgive someone for confirming

I'm over them killing characters off needlessly (Damian)...they shouldn't resort to death to sell books.

That's exactly what this was. They did not address if there was a mandate - of course we all know that as of now there are not any plans to kill him off. We're not idiots, but V-Ditti is now playing the company PR card!
    Gimme gimme shock treatment.

Well Kyle will finally get his 5 mins of fame by killing him off. As of now he's completely pointless.

They should just part all the human Green Lanterns in different Corps. I'd really like it if Guy as a RL was permanent. It'd be an interesting story to see him try and redeem the RL Corps and turn them into a force for good. Hal should be the main GL and Kyle could be 6 feet under or a White Lantern.

So...this was either a case of an internet rumor attached to Fialkov's departure, or some spin doctorin' on DC's part.

Guess it's a moot point now. With the Earth Lanterns pretty much splitting off into their own books, I was looking forward to John being at the forefront of Green Lantern Corps (hopefully, with some fairly absent Lanterns of late like Sora, Arisia, Iolande, etc).
Always remember this stuff isn't real.
