Black Panther and the Cold War

I admit i had not read all the Panther comics, but where do you think Wakanda should stand on the Cold War?

I am new to learning about Black Panther and Wakanda, but with all that I know so far I Indeed say Neutral. Wakanda and Black Panther are about looking after and protecting Wakanda and thier people 1st and that is the way it should be.

Cold War. What was it again? Soviet / American expansionism? It had its benefits, in that everybody was inventing new stuff because of the Space race. Of course there were all the spies, and red agents. Black Widow, the Red Ghost, Crimson Dynamo, Titanium Man. And look at the best product - the Winter Soldier. The alliances and the enemies in the Cold War could be compared to the alliances and enemies of Wakanda, Atlantis, Latveria, USA, Norman Osborns Cabal, the Illuminati.

I can't see why Black Panther wouldn't play one off against the other. Sure, talk to the Soviets, and talk to the Americans. There is always benefit in appearing to wave Vibranium in front of one or the other, that is, when they had any.

It's not clear, as there have been different interpretations of Wakanda in this era. Hudlin has portrayed Azzuri the wise as being largely indifferent toward who would win World War II (Namor's flashback in Hudlin's BP #21), seeing both the Allies and Axis as roughly equal in goals, if not methods. But he also wrote him as an ally to Captain America, fighting side by side with him against Nazis. And a line in Avengers: 1959 indicates that a Black Panther (not necessarily Azzuir) fought alongside Nick Fury in Ethiopia later in the war.

At the end of Avengers: 1959 mini, Wakanda is giving financial backing and some technology to SHIELD, so I think they are sort of on America's side, but keep it on the QT.

I am really suprised that there was no Cold War story about Black Panther.

I'm just going by comics that were produced during that actual era coming from Marvel. Let's say from when BP was introduced in the mid-60's until the late 80's "the end of the Cold War". It's not hard to find comics where Iron Man or maybe the Avengers actively fought communists, however usually Wakanda was portrayed as a neutral/isolationist nation, so in a way, that's kind of the answer right there.
