Ron Richards of the failed Graphicly and iFanboy companies comments on this? Meh. *Rolls eyes.
Anyone else have problems on a weekly basis with their site? Soooo damn sick of being halfway through a book only to turn a page and get nothing but a spinning wheel logo, making you reload the whole book, often times repeatedly. Happens on my pc, Iphone and kindle. Nothing will ever beat a comic in the hands.
Yeah, this whole experience has taught me one thing, I'm just gonna go back to buying floppy and tpbs. No more money going into these digital comic apps. I did enjoy them for a while, but why am I spending money on something that could not be there when I want it, like today... or in 10 years. Time to go back issue dive'n to find all the issues I paid for digital of.
It's why I still buy albums and cd's... I like having the actual cd, and can make my own mp3s or what ever format will be here in 15 years.
Keep On Thwipin'!!!

Whatever works for you but there is no guarantee that any medium won't fail. I've had floods threaten my comics and allergies threaten my exposure to them. Digital comics won't degrade or take up a ton of space in your home.
I think comics are great in just about all formats but when the volume and renumbering or storage and access difficulties get in the way of accessing and enjoying those comics, it's time for a change. Maybe that's not happened to you but I've got enough longboxes crowding me out. No more for me, please. I will buy the occasional hard copy - like at megaCON, this weekend (probably trades or hc's).
I've got physical cd's that I've purchased over decades and some that we're cheap used ones (cheaper than Amazon, for instance) but I access those files digitally (mp3 format) just like my comic files (and digital movie copies).

I hate it when my paper copy of the Uncanny X-Men blinks out on me! :)
"...assurances from comiXology's Twitter feed that they have 'Top Men working on it.'"
If their Top Men haven't fixed the problem, maybe they should try their Top Women on it -- or just Top People in general...

This result should not have surprised anybody.
This release should have been done in a staggered fashion over this month or even several months.
Comixology should have taken the increased demand into account.
Their site crashed due to Marvel giving FREE comic books.
FREE
But yet people still bitch and complain.
Be a little appreciative of Marvel and their generosity? Oh, wait. I forgot where I am. Nothing but negativity and insults here. Silly me.
Top 10:Cyclops. Nightcrawler. Magik. Juggernaut (Cain Marko). Magneto. Hulk. Mr.Sinister. Emma Frost. Legion. Dr. Nemesis.
Your comments are entirely correct if you're only talking to people who are looking to download the free Marvel Comics. But how about all those people who have paid for loads and loads of comics already, comics that are stored on their servers, that can't ready them today? How about EVERY other publisher that ComiXology services that can't sell their comics to anyone today because they didn't prepare for the onslaught of readers looking for Marvel comics?
OR, let's put it this way. ComiXology knew, in advance, that they'd be giving away 700 copies. What were their expectation projections? Did they consider that 10% of the audience would try to download all 700, 50% of the audience would try to download more than half? Etc...if they had, and not been conservative about it, this could have been avoided.
