    Default PREVIEW: Shadowman #5

Dr. Mirage, Valiant's preeminent psychic investigator and supernatural hero, will debut this Wednesday in Shadowman #5 in a new incarnation created by writer Justin Jordan and co-writer/artist Patrick Zircher.

In this new iteration, Dr. Mirage is the stage name of Shan Fong, a one-time television investigator of paranormal phenomena whose unique abilities make her an invaluable asset to police departments around the world. During the upcoming "Darque Reckoning" storyline - beginning on March 6th in Shadowman #5 - Fong steps into the world of Jack Boniface and the Shadowman after discovering that no matter where she goes, the dead only have one thing to say: "Master Darque is coming."

"Since the Summer of Valiant, we've been slowly building towards several key events. You can see the first of these events this April in Harbinger Wars, where Bloodshot and Harbinger collide," Valiant CEO and Chief Creative Officer Dinesh Shamdasani told the AP. "The return of Dr. Mirage is part of that plan - part of setting the stage. Dr. Mirage is a key piece in the future of the Valiant Universe and the timing of the return, as well as the manner, is no accident."

Thanks for the unlettered preview. I'm intrigued by these new characters, I can't wait to read tomorrow's issue!

    Short lived Valiant series.

This version looks to be female.

I've really been enjoying this new Shadowman series to date, but just see the Harbinger series as a poor man's X-Men.
    Pull list:
Adventure Time, Batgirl, Batman & Robin, BOP, Earth 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, He-Man, Katana, Nightwing, Shadowman, Swamp Thing, The Ultimates, Ultimate Spider-Man, Worlds' Finest

The original Valiant universe was created by Jim Shooter and co. with the intent of making a sort of new Marvel. So that makes sense. They're different in that they're not born with powers, mostly, and all have a variant of either telekinesis or telepathy. Not to mention that the characters are far more morally ambiguous.

Anyway... so excited! Shadowman's been slightly less enjoyable to me than the other titles, but it seems like they're hitting their stride a bit. Can't wait for the new Doctor Mirage! Should be the awesome sauce.
Looking for artists, know I won't find any. That blows.

    Female Geomancer
    Female Dr.Mirage

VEI is filling out, not an intentional pun, the need for more female roles outside of Harbinger it seems with the gender bending. Ok, Geomancer works but switching Dr.Mirage is doing so.

    Can't wait for the issue!!!

The new Dr. Mirage looks cool. I would've preferred they kept Dr. Mirage male in this new version of Valiant, as there aren't many major male Asian characters in comics, but oh well.

I'm all keyed up on getting Shadowman #5 tomorrow. Two new major characters, and the initial preview shown, with dialogue, looked great. I'm hoping the rest of the issue stays on the same level.
