I'm not sure I'd read a Steel ongoing mostly because I don't feel that anyone working at DC currently could take it in a direction that would make me excited about it. I think DC could take advantage of Steel more when they get get the Superman Family stuff in line.

I'd absolutely love to see more Steel, obviously.

I think at this point most of DC sees too much similarity between Steel and Cyborg for Steel to get his own book as they're clearly trying to build Cyborg up -- even though the two characters are completely different in terms of what their stories should be about and the fundamental friction at the core of their characters -- and I'm not sure Steel has the name to sustain an ongoing anyway.

HOWEVER, it strikes me that Action Comics in the new 52 is a book with a backup, and with a high circulation. That backup should really be used to focus on supporting characters, maybe try to gauge interest a bit. A Steel backup for 6 months, a Lois Lane backup, a Jimmy Olsen backup....depending on the length of the story one has to tell.

The economics of 3rd tier comic character aside, though, the direction you take Steel to make him interesting and relevant seems very clear and very obvious to me.

I definitely don't want to see Steel as a back-up in a Superman book.
John Henry as supporting cast would be nice.

    Has me thinking though...
For a team, I might go with Steel, Spartan, Ladytron, Dane and Robotman.

Hahaha absolutely!! He's a very cool character who has all the potential in the world to be a great character in this new DCU. I don't understand why more Superman fan don't like him as much??

Thank you. I personally wouldn't mind him to be a bit of a superhero like I said in my other post, but given the new 52 I don't think that he'd actually think of himself as one. I feel it would be more of a part time job to him that he only actually does when there is no other alternative or if he's the only guy available. I feel like he would even really wear the suit as a first option.

But yeah absolutely he wouldn't be a stranger to the suit and superheroing.

Personally, I think the fact that he's not just another white guy in a suit should be a definite positive in his favor, and would love it if he and a bunch of other African-American/Hispanic/other minority characters also got more exposure in the DCnU.

But I'm also, as mentioned, a realist, and what percent of the comic book buying audience has been supporting minority-starring books in the past?

(And if by some chance Steel gets a green light, how about guys like Codename: Gravedigger and Icon getting features again?)
