Maybe my Favorite Marvel Villian, Thanos is coming back in style, it is great and this book looks Great!
Wonder, is this the first time they have really done a backstory on Thanos as a child, I don't believe they ever did one before?

Am I the only one who hated Wolverine: Origin? I thought it was a huge mistake that permanently took away part of the character's allure.

Nope, you're not the only one. I never read all of it, only sampled parts, but regardless if it was Watchmen 2, I'm against it in principle. The reason nobody ever told Logan's origin is because that was indeed part of the allure of the character, much like with the Joker. Claremont, Byrne, et al, did some fine work illustrating this without ruining the mystery. Having one major hero with a mysterious origin makes him "unique." Telling his origin, removes this. Wolverine became iconic on the back of this mystery.

I think you'll find that Wolverine: Origin is pretty polarizing amongst Wolverine fans.
Personally speaking I enjoyed it's unorthodox origin for Logan even if it had it's set of cliche's laid throughout. The overall story was pretty strong and I also enjoyed the frontiersman era in which it was set. I'd definitely put it next to such seminal works as Weapon X and the Claremont/Miller mini series as milestone Wolverine works that people should read. I'm just surprised it took this long to do anything with Dog given how long ago it's been published.

The story was well written. nobody can deny that. Origin was a fine book. but the ramifications... somethings just aren't meant to be told.

I haven't read Origin and what I know of it does NOT make me want to read it either.
Weapon X was fine as a first origin story, but it opened the floodgates of Wolverine's past. I can understand that there's only so long for mystery to be handled and the need to reveal something.
But now he's been everywhere, worked with every agency, somehow knows or is connected to almost everyone in some way. He's got TOO MUCH origin and it kinda ruins the character.
I've heard about the Romulus stuff too, was that any good? lol
This volume of Thor is giving X-Factor stiff competition as best book being published today.
And Wolverine as a character was damaged and lost a lot of his appeal. He has also stopped being a sales juggernaut (remember when the WOLVERINE ongoing series was a consistent top 5 seller for 10 years straight). ORIGIN is the type of book that you end up with when fans turn pro can't check their fan ideas and their adult sensibilities at the door and start telling stories that should never have been told. In other words, they don't "get it".Axel, how do you view that original "Origin" series and how it's impacted Wolverine long term since you've now worked as an editor on Wolverine for so long?
Alonso: “Origin” provided some answers to questions about Logan’s origin, but also asked new questions that opened doors to new stories. That said, the reason we haven’t announced an "Origin 2" in the past 12 years is that we won’t until we know we have THE story to warrant that title.
At my first editorial summit, one week after I was hired, one of the big questions we tackled there was, "Why can't we tell Logan’s origin?" The operating logic was that we couldn’t, because, well, we shouldn’t. And so we asked, Why? And we didn’t have a good answer, apart from, well, we shouldn’t. Once we opened up the floor for hypothetical discussion, it was like dam broke and ideas flowed. And of course, shortly after that [writers] Paul [Jenkins], Joe [Quesada] and [then Marvel President] Bill [Jemas] and [artist] Andy [Kubert] made comics history.
