Anyone going that would be willing to pick up Mike's exclusives for me?
(I'll paypal you cost + shipping)

I think its just the year of monsters sketchbook but can't remember if there is a print too..

This is the one main Con I usually go to every year but I moved out of state and it just didn't work to make it back up to WA this year.
I feel like Patrick R and myself were the closest ones to this con so this might be a question for an empty room...

Okay now that is boss .
Been called a 'good egg'. Been told to rock, been told to steady myself. Been told to (please) be goin' places.
Chillingly good stuff besides Mignola, Slint, M, Knut and really big chunks of tinfoil?
Half sunk in the mud, with one eye showing / a cracked smile and hair still growing /
your hands miles apart, as if they'd never met / you were the happiest I'd seen you yet

I saw the last half of panel. There were a few good bits in there, but it was mostly derailed by people asking about the films, about TV spin-offs, and stuff like that. Right near the end, after getting yet another film question, Mike Mignola basically said, Well, that was depressing. OK, last question. No movie stuff... and then the last question ends up being about the movies! Ugh.

I beginning to think they should open every panel with a "We're not taking any questions about any movies or TV stuff" speech. And if someone stills asks, like the last person did today, then simply say, "Next question."

    If there's a vote, I second that.

It would have to be done tactfully, obviously. It's just when that last question was asked, I couldn't suppress a groan. He just said answering film questions was depressing, so they ask one more? Ugh.

It reminded me of a moment when I was at the New York ComicCon, and this guy came up to Mike Mignola's table and put a huge pile of comics down (around 15) in front of him and said, "Could you sign these?" Mike starts signing and the guy just stands there in silence. The second Mike was finished, this guy picks up the comics, says, "thanks," and away he goes. It was incredibly surreal to me. he didn't even seem to care that he just met Mike Mignola, he just seemed to care that his comics had just been upgraded to a more valuable status.

Basically, I saw Mike get treated really rudely, but he was a real pro about it and really polite and friendly. I don't think I'd be capable of doing the same without getting jaded. But you could see how moments like that, and the constant film questions, were exhausting. (One guy actually asked, "Did you know Guillermo Del Toro is here? Why don't you go talk to him about the third film?" and it wasn't a joke)

By the way, I got my book signed shortly after this guy, while Mike was answering questions from another fan, telling him that Screw-on Head was one of his favourite things he'd ever done. When I put down my hardcover copy of Screw-on Head for him to sign, I got a huge grin. You could see him come to life when someone asks about the comics.

    Thanks for posting Mark.

Seems like interviewers keep asking Mike the same questions and pay no attention to past interviews.
Its always the same Hellboy In Hell questions, and just a lot of recycled info overall, I'd be pretty tired of it if I was him. :/

Thats why I really enjoy the twitter chats he does, we can ask him more comic related questions that he hasn't answered since we watch/read all the interviews/articles and know what he's already said.

Hey, there's a video of it all!

So news, and I'm only gonna say the stuff that hasn't been said before...

    • Hellboy in Hell #5 and #6 are both standalone stories.
    • Mike Mignola has plans to do Hellboy in Hell stories which barely feature the character. These would instead be stories within stories, similar to the Baltimore novel.
    • At one point early on, there was supposed to be a story about one of the aliens seen in Seed of Destruction and Conqueror Worm, but Mike Mignola discovered sci-fi wasn't really his thing.

At 20:20 there's a question that leads to some really interesting discussion about the process too. I like hearing about how they manage the collaborative approach to design.

i watched the whole video and like the others, felt that the film questions were REALLY exhausting. you could almost see the exasperation on the panel's faces.. like not again?! maybe if del toro were to be given the green like on justice league dark we would finally get some silence on this topic.

otherwise, i really enjoyed this Q+A together with the fables panel. these 2 series are probably the best (and long running) ongoing books going on the shelves right now..
