Morrison isn't changing. Not long ago, he had Superman save the world with a song and a wish for a happy ending. Batman saved the world from Darkseid's reincarnation by simply realizing he's always had help.

And Grant most certainly does not think we get the comics we deserve. He believes comics are supposed to be positive and inspirational, the opposite of where he felt the 80s and 90s were leading comics.

If I know anything, it's that #12 won't be a sad ending. Grant will either return Damian, or spin his death & its effects into something positive.

DC discarded their history, and now has none. DC will always be in the shadows of their past work.

If you need proof he hasn't changed read Action #13 again. Superman was saved because the people were asking for him. It was literally a "Clap for Tinkerbell" moment.

All you have to do is read the Filth to understand that even the shit is beautiful.

I just read this......ok, I will admit it, I teared up....especially on the panels with the interaction with Dick and Damian.....seriously choked up. Considering that relationship was the one that I enjoyed the most pre New 52, and has been lost in the New 52....

At this point I'm guessing Grant will at least go out hinting that the return of Damian will be possible (maybe Tomasi plans to do it in the future), if not returning him himself.
I just can't imagine any way Grant could spin Bruce's son being murdered into something positive.

I for one am glad that change was made. The scene was already bordering on the excessive when it came to gore, and I think the significance of the moment is better highlighted by Damian being covered in shadow for that one moment.

I disagree. The look on Damian's face on the original is brilliantly drawn and would have given the scene much more weight. The dark face was one of the reasons it didn't work for me.

Yeah, I think the original art captures the horror of the moment much more nicely.

Indeed. The censored version completely weakens what should have been the most emotional page in Morrison's run.

In fact, i have to say that my criticism of the issue and disappointment in it is now being completely rethought. It wasn't my only issue with it, but it's such an important panel to get right and i really felt Burnham had got it wrong – turns out it wasn't his fault. Damian's death scene was neutered by editorial. What a f***ing waste.
