    Default They Live (1988)

This year is the 25th anniversary to one of the best sci-fi cult classics ever and one of Carpenter's best movies. I remembered when i was 7 years old seeing this 3 times in theaters even on opening day as i thought it was a kick-ass movie.

Roddy Piper proves he's a wrestler who can act on film and Keith David did a good performance, i also like the anti-political message this movie has with it's satire on Reaganism.

IT's a good movie. But I grew up in the 80s and overall things were really nice. Better than they are now (sorry). On the other hand, this anti-corporate thing really worked for the movie people for a long time as it does in this film. It's probably the best movie starring a pro-wrestler, too.

Hate to rain on the parade, but I thought this film was pretty poorly made. The story's good and it's got some great ideas, but it doesn't hang together. The Piper/Keith David fight is FAR too long and there are several points where the camera keeps rolling for 5 seconds after it needed to cut, for example. I'd call it the first film of Carpenter's decline.

Love this movie. The interminable fight scene gets to be hilarious after awhile. These guys are just beating and beating on each other!

The alien faces/effects were a bit weak.
"There's not much of a difference between a stadium full of cheering fans and an angry crowd screaming abuse at you. They're both just making a lot of noise. How you take it is up to you. Convince yourself they're cheering for you. You do that, and some day, they will. And that's how Sue Cs it."- Sue Sylvester, "Glee"

Yes Roddy and Andre The Giant are the best wrestlers as actors you have to agree.

Say uh, who thinks this movie is the Fight Club of the 80s? same themes and all that.

Awesome 80s boobs in the last scene.

In October I went to an outdoor viewing of the movie. It's still so much fun.
During the opening credits sequence there's a stretch of street that you can see that I drive everyday on the way to and from work.

it's a movie that i'll only watch inebriated. i have the Joe Bob Briggs screening of it; guest-star Roddy Piper (of course).
