    Default Avengers, #6

"Avengers" #6 continues its spotlight on the new members as Jonathan Hickman and Adam Kubert focus on the new Captain Universe, but it's the last few pages in particular that will have everyone talking.

You Avengers fans are lucky to have Hickman on A-book. I wish Hickman would do some X-book in not too distant future.

It is inevitable, but not soon, not with BMB on the two flagship books.
I tried looking up the Straw Hat Law, but I guess The Amish haven'[t made it to the Internet yet.

X-Men isn't doing to bad right now. Bendis is doing a fantastic job with ANXM and Wood is on X-Men which has great potential. Things aren't that bad in the X-universe.

This would not appeal to or be understood by any comic fan under the age of 35, but the reveal of Blackveil's real name and the announcement of the White Event had me fist pumping in the air and squeeing like it was 1986. Hickman is awesome.
I believe all that needs to be said has been. So here’s my two cents.”-- ScottMC, inadvertently summing up the Internet.

Man, I'm really behind on my Avengers reading. I haven't even read issue 3 yet. So far. So good.

Eh... it was.. it was something. Didn't really progress the story well, repeated a lot of information we already know, ending was abrupt, art was average and nothing more, Captain Universe wasn't really that interesting and kept interrupting Tamara (who was actually interesting, but a bit cliched), and depressingly unrewarding. People pay 4 bucks for this comic twice a month and they get rewarded with this (I'm not buying this, just borrowing it from friends and or reading it in stores). This comic most likely will be rewarding in the trades, but not now. These past issues may have focused more on the characters, but at the cost of the plot and pacing. Why can't we do both? Explore our characters and move the plot forward, without slowing down either one or just recaping it. Come on!

My quick and simpler reaction to this comic can be found here: http://comicbookreactionshots.blogsp...rs-6-2013.html

Uh. I'd say it is moving the plot forward. These three characters -- Smasher, Hyperion and Tamara -- are all important to the larger storyline Hickman is building.
I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!

If nihilism didn't take some delight in destruction one might suspect nihilists were an unnaturally morbid sort.

Yeah... but they're not real Avengers any one cares about. Or really, even Avengers at all. Cap would never invite unproven players to join the team. If they wanted to be bigger... they have a whole bunch of underused Avengers they could have gone with, if Hickman had any desire to actually write an Avengers book. I thought Bendis' choices were outta left field back in the day, this is just dumb. FF was good, because he took long established characters, and wrote the with a modern voice. Now, he's just lazy as far as I'm concerned. Just throwing in any hero he wants to take a crack at, that has no relevance to Avengers.

My wish.... Wonder Man for Hyperion, Monica Rambeau for Capt Universe, Sersi for Smasher....

The fun thing would be to see AVENGERS in a fresh, new, light

I think the Kooky Quartet is evidence that he's willing to take a gamble on new unproven people.

I think it's essentially been established to some degree that Cap believes in "fate" as far as allowing members to join. If "fate" brought Hyperion and Captain U to the Avengers, he'll just stick them on the team.

    Those guys are Avengers.

You can tell on account of how they're on the Avengers.

I'm sure every Avenger has not been an Avenger at some point.

Anyway, those three you mentioned would have nothing to do with the story he's telling.

Edit: Also. Bentley, the Moloid kids, and the Wakanda girl.

I don't think you want to go and read the whole New Universe line - which is the reference - just to comprehend Rollo's nostalgia.

It's just some nouns that are being co-opted from a few old series and adapted for use in this one.

Wiki "New Universe" and "New Universal" if you want specifics, but they probably won't pertain directly to what's happening in Vengadores.
