Kind of raises the question of whether only vegetation gets killed wearing the armor, or whether it didn't kill Gafti because Aric told it not to. Would make for some interesting Vine character development if it turned out they couldn't wear Shanhara because of what they are, that their god rejects them because of their very nature.
In my opinion is implied in every post. Please make an effort to remember that.

I liked this issue, but it basically played out exactly how I thought it would. And I was worried about the time problem before people suggested that Aric returns to the 41st century! That would be an AMAZING way to introduce Rai and maybe some Future Force members. Not to mention Aric could easily be brought back to the present by Timewalker when actually promised to return to his time, because that's where he's meant to be. Could be good pathos there. And it would make him aware of the Anni-Padda and Bloodshot, which would be interesting. I'm WAY more pumped for Planet Death now!

Just re-read this issue again today and my original comments still stand, this was simply amazing and the perfect prelude to Planet Death. You could feel the emotion in the conflict between Aric and Gafti and you could tell that even though Gafti was dead that Aric recognized him as a hero and knew he did what he needed to do to help out in the condition he was in.

I loved how Gafti looked with the armor on and how the armor kind of shifted and looked different on him, that was really cool. Also, I'm with those who think Trill will become a major player and isn't completely dead, he's too badass to just be pounded to death and have such an anti-climatic death.

I liked the issue and the action but i was surprised and little off put by the long space journey he is taking. I would like to see have seen some development for Aric on Earth alittle.

As new fan who dont know anything about the old series, where this is going.

If I have one issue with this series it is that we haven't seen Aric's development as a character in the present day. The writer did say after Planet Death that the next arc would slow things down for Aric and do just that.

Only thing i'm sad about is that we might not see Ninjak at all in upcoming few issues. Other than that solid issue as always.

Now interesting question is does armor accept all humans? Or as AJBoop said, does it reject only Vine? How was it in original universe?

In the original Valiant U the armor was sentient, so I'd guess that it generally chooses its bearers. In this case, though, it seemed to be giving Aric what he wanted, while also using Gafti as a vehicle for the big weapon that kills you. I think Shanhara was smart enough to see that she could resolve the invasion more efficiently if she possessed Gafti. Which says a lot about the armor's relationship with Aric, which is VERY interesting...

As for Ninjak, Venditti's said that Aric being off-planet will place the Earth and, more specifically, Alexander Dorian in peril. Bet we'll see at least Ninjak return there, maybe Armorines being teased at the least.

That is exactly what im hoping for the story to slow and development for Aric as a character in the present day. How has all the horrible experiences he has gone through has affected him ? Can he live in modern world when he isnt always fueled by his hate for the vine to go in battle after battle.

I just picked up and read issue 1 from the trade. The art and production values are outstanding. I really enjoy the story too. I like the blend of Sci-fi with Roman history. I have to say if more indies had these production values, they would find a larger audience. I find most indies to be lacking in this department. I feel that this is one of the many reasons Marvel and dc dominate. Not that I am complaining, I have a very strong personal connection to many Marvel characters. I love my Marvel books!

But X-O is right up there. Looking forward to trying Shadowman and some of the other Valiant offerings.

Grab Harbinger. It is easily the best Valiant title and that says something because all the titles are really good.

Will do. But other than Marvel, which I have to buy my issues every week, I do not buy the floppies of indies. I do the trades. So my question is, is there a trade out for harbinger yet? I will follow the valiant titles but only in trade. This is my standard practice for all indies. Single issues are just too messy to inventory.

The first Harbinger trade is out and its $10.00 for 5 issues, all the first TPBs are $10.00.

Definetly worth checking out at that price. I've been a hard core Avengers and Marvel fan for decades, once Valiant came back I started caring more and more about those books because they always deliver. Once I became aware of the difference my intrest in Marvel declined sharply.

The books are great and the company really respects their fans old and new, it's refreshing to be excited about comics again. I haven't been this excited about comics since Millar's Ultimates (and that was a long time ago).

Finally read my copy last nite, I really liked Gafti's character arc and his sacrifice was very poignant.

Shame the art felt somewhat sub-par compared to the first two arcs, but hey Nord is back for Planet Death! Lets crush those creepy plants!
