years ago we learned that polaris goes through ugly phases and pretty phases. this is rooted in her body dysmorphia issues as we learned in previous x-factor.
sometimes lorna feels pretty.
sometimes she feels fat.

today, polaris looks like this.
do you think she's going through another "ugly" phase? do you think she's depressed? or is she feeling pretty? usually it's easy to spot, but this time i can't tell.
what's your diagnosis?

Polaris had to be made ugly so Layla could be the leading lady of X-Factor and team sexpot. No heels on those ugly boots. Short hair tied. Sailor Moon's tiara. And a purple costume to enrage jmc247!

No but I do like her having body dysmorphia. I think it makes sense for the character. Although Peter David didn't reference it, she was forced by her parents to die her green hair brown when she was a kid. Constantly being forced to alter your appearrance because something was "wrong" from an early age to fit in would definately cause some issues for an adult.

Only Polaris costume I ever liked was that weird Shi'ar one that looked like it belonged to a completely different character entirely.
