PREVIEW: All-New X-Men #9

Wow, very bright and colourful. I love how Immonen handles light refracting off of explosions, optic blasts, Jean's TK, etc. against the night backdrop. Wish I knew how we'd gotten here and whether or not this was perhaps a big danger room scenario as sentinels are a bit out of nowhere unless this is all coming about as a result of Mystique's relationship with the Hellfire Club and the Hellfire Club's subsequent association with the sale of sentinels. Doesn't seem super likely though as I thought Mystique's whole design was to do whatever she's doing in a quiet way and let the X-Men struggle with their own issues off in their own little world.

Questions! All that aside though, feels good seeing the classic X-Men taking on a few sentinels. Very nostalgic.

But I assume they meant consequences. This is what happens when we outsource our preview blurbs to India.

They know English in the subcontinent. If it were a little more garbled, I'd guess it was subcontracted out to one of my students.

Obviously the DR, Dazzler having a show in times square? I love her, but c'mon, we know better. That Immonen art is gorgeous. Now put them in new costumes.

I wonder if we are going to see Cyclops give orders and Jean counters them.

Beautiful art and great action, but I also think this is a Danger Room simulation. Also, didn't Brian Bendis say that the O5 would cross paths with Cyclops's team in Uncanny again in Issue #9? Cyclops and his team have already been fighting sentinels. It makes perfect sense to have their paths cross at some point. It will give O5 Cyclops a chance to follow Mystique's advice.

Maybe, though it would be better if Jean turned out to actually be a good leader and at least consider the input of others. At the end of the day everyone brings certain competencies to the table, after all. Everyone except Bobby, but then it would be good to see Bobby made to be a more useful person as a result of this experience, for someone who knows that he ends up a bit of a duff to actually make efforts to intervene there.

I don't mean change all these characters into completely different characters entirely, but explore what other directions they could've gone in if circumstances A had instead ended up being circumstances B.

I hope when they do cross paths Eva has some sort of adverse reaction to them. What with the O5 being horrible abominations of the space-time continuum and such.
