Actually thanks for posting that it only shows that it may make him stronger or it might actually kill him. It's a 50/50 shot and in that other scan it shows him dead. The last two lines in the narration explain that completely. "It may even explode, the same holds for Cyclops. "
o
Yeah, but Cyclops is holding the energy in, he's purposefully letting himself get charged to his limit and he's not really worse for wear. Sure, the mountain explodes and they all lie among the rubble but he's back on his feet at the same time as Storm. It might not even have been so painful if he was releasing his blast while she was charging him (which also raises the question on why Scott's stamina is affected when he releases his optic blasts in the open while the blasts he releases that are blocked by ruby quartz are not but that is a whole other discussion).
Also: Storm's lightning is low-octane regular energy![]()
Your hateful lies at work again I see. Storm could rip Cyclops into bits and pieces if she wanted to, just by making a pressure differential outside or inside his body. And while Cyclops used to absorb solar/cosmic energy to fuel his blasts, they don't seem to work that way anymore, as the more recent issue shows.
It was always a tossup. If he could absorb the entire em spectrum Magneto would have fueled his blasts too. It was always a tossup. Sometimes it would fill him up and other times it would kill him.
Low octane energy that is five times hotter than the energy Scott is used to absorbing.

Storm can shift pressure gradients with less than a thought(see that old issue of Wolverine where she blew up a house while those gangsters were pointing their guns at her), and block his optic blasts. There is nothing he could do to stop her.
It does the job.
