    Default Blackacre

    Hello everyone,

Newly registered here after lurking for a while. I'm a UK based comic lover.

Was just wondering if anyone had picked up one of image's newest offerings; Blackacre.

If not its a dystopian tale with some really interesting political and action elements. It's up to Issue #3 so far and I've been very, very impressed.. The artwork is beautiful.

It's a debut for the persons involved. Duffy The writer is clearly very talented and I can't wait to see where this story goes!

Someone else here the other day was saying it's pretty good.

I liked #1. Not mind blowing, but you can see the world-building and big picture forming. Need to catch up on the last 2 issues. Seems to have been pretty well-received by some big name writers.
Comics were happier before the Internet turned writing superhero stories into fruitless attempts to impress/entertain a small group of ppl who appear to hate comics and their creators.

I enjoy the series a lot. To be honest, the cover for #1 made me skip it because I wasn't a fan of that art. Then I saw a preview and the interior looks much different to me and I"m a fan of apocalyptic stories so I checked it out. I can see a lot of potential with this if it can get readers onboard. I liken it to Walking Dead w/o zombies, with the addition of a city that adds political intrigue.

I think I'd agree with that moreorless. The cover art for #1 is definitely unusual, and definitely not wholeheartedly identifiable with what's inside.

The main thing that excites about this is the way the world is extremely believable without being vapid of character also.

In my view, this is one of the highest potential comics out there at the minute. As you say, it definitely needs to maximise the readership so it can become an ongoing beyond issue 10!

up to date on all issues. I'm liking this more and more. While it's still a bit vague (to me at least) on what exactly is going on w/ Greene (why he went rogue or left), the relationships w/ those in power at BlackAcre (Sinclair and others), and the whole Sacred Yoke story (who is the girl? Hell, who is the Sacred Yoke besides some violent religious outcast group?), I suppose that's part of the intrigue. Hopefully some of this can be tied up relatively soon, but I don't mind if the mystery of Greene continues to be the motif or driving plot progression.

So what does everyone think so far? It is the comic I look forward to than any other at image along with TWD and Revival.

The trade is coming very soon as well, so it gives everyone a great jumping on point! :)
