I didn't really like WATXM from the get-go, and it's only gotten less engaging over time.
IMO it doesn't really have an identity and just feels sort of middling - simplistically zany without being creative or funny, a bland adventure book without much imagination or thematic heft. There are also just too many characters. The book should focus more fully on either the students or the faculty, with the other being a supporting cast.
I have nothing against Jason Aaron on X-Men - I thought he did a decent job with Schism and Wolverine's solo series - but WATXM just isn't clicking.
Then so are the majority of X-Men books if we go by that logic. Most Avenger titles still get the hardcover treatment, in addition to Captain America and Iron Man solo books. Marvel had published a list and a good 80%ish Avenger/Captain America/Iron Man books keep the hardcover treatment, along with the few Omnibii and event/crossover books, and there were about three X-Men books still getting the hardcover treatment on that list. It was published last year and I don't remember the X-Men titles.

Two Avengers books out of eight get hardcover treatment. Same amount as X-books.
What the f am I supposed to do with the WatXM hardcovers I have now? Can't believe they're doing this

My X-Men Sketch Book
First Bachelo jumps ship to UXM and now this. I'll probably stop buying/reading this title now which is a real shame because I was enjoying it. I really wanted a lengthy run of premier hardcovers for the one title on my shelf.
I haven't started reading All New X-Men yet, does it revolve a lot around the jean grey school? I don't care for team cyclops.
Like I said elsewhere, if they would rotate their cast, mixing with other kids at the school, it would probably become a better book. Most of these newer kids are not interesting enough.
