Ultimate Spidey vol 1

Has anyone picked up this Omni? I have no new in print books until June/July and looking for something to read, I've read some of the old series here and there but never in full. Would this be worth reading?

@Phelpzy : I think you should getboth Ultimate Spider-Man vol 1 AND Death of Spider-Man , Bendis & Bagley / LaFuente have all done such an excellent book that it's the best Ultimate book yet IMO .

Would I understand death of since Vol 1 is just the first half of the series?

On one hand yes, it's very approachable. On the other I feel like it won't have the same emotional level it does without reading everything else.

Exactly , if you first read the Ultimate Spider-Man Volume 1 , you'll get the WHY and the HOW of what happens during Death Of Spider-Man and you'll love Death of Spider-Man .

You should read everything else in between because of all the spoilers in it. Like there is a villain in Death of Spider-Man who doesn't make his debut in the first omnibus. It's like watching the first twenty minutes of a movie and then fast-forwarding to the end.

I totally agree with ya ! I started reading Ultimate Spider-Man when I was a kid of 11 years old from the first issue till the Venom War . Later , I've read DoFSM but I didn't totally understood everything .
That's why ya should read all the issues concerning Ultimate Spidey like the main series + the special issues of Ultimates concerning Peter + the Ultimate Comics Spider-Man series by Bendis and LaFuente THEN finally DoFSM

Ordered Vol 1 and picked up Ultimate Avengers Omni for cheap, I liked it all but avengers 3, felt like it was originally suppose to be Ultiamtes 3 till Leob fed it up

My copy should be here wed, had a few other books come in today and after this comes in my print books are done till may, with the exception of 1 in march

Vol 1 is probably 1/5 of the series.

I'd get both, but don't read DoSM until you have caught up with the issues in-between. Get them in trade, track down the OHC's, wait and see if more omnibus's come out or read them online (if you purchase and download them legally, of course).

Read DoSM last and then you'll understand it. And you'll probably cry.

I cried like a baby. Then Fallout #1 came out and I cried harder.
