I didn't mean it in the sense that old Nick had no involvement in the way SHIELD works, because I honestly think some time in the future, old Nick will be called upon to take the reigns again, and won't that be a great day? In the mean time, I do feel he has contact with Quake and is feeding her instructions on tactics, I have no doubt about that at all.

I concede...Fury has only shown up in half the issues. You win.

....Cap is still right though. Hahaha.
I wouldn't call it a win. More than half the books he has an appearance and we are on what? book 16 now?

    More of a splitting hairs

I hope there is a story somewhere in the next year that does show what Fury has been doing. Secret Warriors ended with Fury ready to break the Contessa out of prison. Dum Dum and everyone knows this, though who can say if there is physical proof other than people just knowing, but you would think that would have had some sort of reprecussions.

Also didn't Secret Warriors end with SHIELD being its own thing outside of the US or UN? I thought it was its own thing, or is that one of those plot points that was swept under the rug because not a lot of people read Secret Warriors to the end, and its a confusing element for new readers in the minds of editorial while in reality new readers don't have to know that or don't care

Hopefully he'll show up more in Winter Soldier. And when the Jr. experiment fails, they'll retcon him and bring the real one back from character limbo.

...not really. I'd prefer him doing something like the Secret Warriors again.

Even if Jr. doesn't work like they hope (though I expect he will, he's rather enjoyable to read about so far), I rather doubt they'll bother to retcon him if they bring Sr. back into play.

I would like for both to work. I agree, I would like to see Fury do something like Secret Warriors--maybe he can join New Avengers--he would fit in or maybe a relaunched Dark Avengers or something.

    .
I'm sure old Nick won't do it permanently, so the Secret Warriors thing would always be a fall back.

I think old Nick is a must for the Illuminati.

Ooh! Yes! See, he could make those amoral calls, and no one would bat an eyelash.

Also, has anyone been keeping up with the Ultimates? What's the deal with 616 Fury showing up over there?

Of course. I'd also expect to see him in Secret Avengers with his son.

No, I wasn't aware old Nick was showing up in Ultimates. I would be interested in knowing why as well.

But that would be the beauty of it, because old Nick would have a separate agenda to the super heroes, just in case it came down to a them and us call, like is happening in the Incursion. If it became a choice between the super heroes and the humans, I think Fury would double cross the Illuminati.
