Default David Lafuente's Take On The Infamous Adam Hughes MJ Statue

So you guys know that infamous Adam Hughes statue of MJ washing Peter's clothes? Well I found David Lafuente's take on it and it's ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN!

Anyone who doesn't like Miles Morales is a racist.

I like it, I always loved his art. Anyone know where I can get more of his Spidey art in wallpaper size?

I never liked his art truth be told. He almost always made Peter look like a girl. Case in point in the above photo.

I guess I really liked his art because he makes everyone look their age and a bit more "comicy" if that means anything. And I loved how they referenced his tendency to draw Spidey with a big head because of Peter's long hair so MJ and Gwen chop it off.

I also really liked how Bendis and Lefaunte responded to fan criticism by cutting off the bangles, thus preventing Spidey's head from looking so awfully round. It was a great scene. That's when Lefaunte started drawing some incredible artwork.

But that's not to say his first arc looked bad. I thought it looked really bold and colourful. I especially liked the reveal of The Shroud.

I wish LaFuente would return to USM. His is probably my favorite art the book has seen.

Dude, this is so old, but I do love it when artists rip on Hughes' sexist MJ Pose, forever immortalized in a statue.

His arguments to defend the piece were somewhere along the lines of "My wife doesn't think its sexist or objectifying, so, you're wrong!" Basically, he likes to handwave the problematic BS in his artwork with weak arguments if engaged.

Yeah, tell me about it. The other day I saw a football trophy with a MALE footballer on it. In fact, every football trophy in the cabinet had a male footballer on it. I thought it was so sexist.

    Yes I am joking.

There's an awesome Lefaunte cover for UCSM v1 and it has Aunt May stood surrounded with teen superheroes and she's holding a basket full of laundry. No one seemed to think that was sexist, simply because Aunt May isn't really a beautiful woman. So, does the woman have to be attractive in order for someone to shout "stereotype!"?

The stereotype is in the eye of the beholder. If you can see the stereotype, you're stereotyping. No one else is. Those football trophies I saw, all had good looking males on them and they all had strong, masculine poses and had fit bodies. Weird isn't it how people look at things and label them as if they have a hidden message? Especially seeing as there are thousands of general stereotypes that apply to both genders and they are absolutely everywhere you look.
