Default Posehn Embraces "Deadpool's" Wild Side

Comedian Brian Posehn brought madness to Marvel's "Deadpool" with zombie presidents in his first arc with co-writer Gerry Duggan, but his latest plans include drunk Iron Man and a Kirby-esque Deadpool.

Adventures of Drunk Iron Man? Damn you, Marvel! This should be the perfect flagship book. Also the idea kinda reminds me a little bit of

A couple of those guys didn't get the treatment that the more famous presidents got. I think we even called them 'D-List' guys because somebody online called us 'D-List Writers.'"
Pretty sure it was Rob Liefeld that made that comment on Twitter. Haha, it's awesome that Posehn basically shrugs it off like it ain't no thang; absolute funniest way he could have handled it. (AKA, don't give Rob Liefeld any unnecessary attention because he sure as hell doesn't deserve it.)

Yes, I think it's flashback. Kelly's Deadpool #11 is one of my favorite issues of Deadpool.

But we've got some other things coming up where he'll have other voices in his head, but it'll happen organically.
Uggh, I forgot that Posehn had mentioned this in an interview prior to the launch of D.P. #1. I was hoping the head voices was a gimmick laid to rest. Le, sigh. At least we'll get an explanation or origin for the voices instead of emerging out of nowhere.

Yup. There are definitely those out there who are butt hurt that the voices are gone. Even worse, there are those who always thought the voices were always a part of the character, presumably because they haven't read anything pre-Way. But I doubt the voices are returning due to fan demand . . . I suspected the writers were planning to reinstate the voices from the get go based on some comments in interviews.

I don't think Deadpool really needs Way-esque voices in his head. My favorite Deadpool was written by Remender in Uncanny X-Force and although that was a very different book than this it was great sans voices in head dialogue.

I don't think Deadpool needs all those different voices in his head it was something that Way did that kind of got played out by everyone else at the time.

It's not like it's really part of his character.

Deadpool is such a fun comic and Brian Posehn is a funny comedian. I saw him on The Burn with Jeff Ross a while back. I'm glad he's on a title like Deadpool because for a series like this you don't have to be Shakespeare. You just have to be funny and be comfortable with a character that likes to shoot guns and blow stuff up. So far, this series has been one of the most entertaining titles in Marvel NOW! and I hope it continues.

The yellow caption voice predates Way, by a long shot:

*SIGH* That's not exactly what I was talking about. I know that he's always had the inner-monologue boxes that appeared in yellow. But they were just inner thoughts. He wasn't talking to himself in a crazy schizo sort of way, and as far as I know, he didn't visually see the inner-monologue.
I'm talking about (and I assume Spidey Sense is too) the two caption boxes, one yellow and one white, that visually appear to him and apparently have their own distinct voices. That device appeared after the run of Cable & Deadpool, and I think started with Way's run, or at least shortly before. So were talking 2008ish when the extra voices started.
