I remember Bendis making a big deal out of the last page of Uncanny X-men so I went back to hunt down that interview where he mentions it.

"The last page of "Uncanny" will establish the reason for the book and "completely shifts the dynamic of the X-Men universe." The page only works if everyone's surprised at the reveal, according to Bendis."

I don't see any dynamics completely shifting unless Magneto really is the traitor.

I don't get the hate for this issue either. It wasn't perfect, but it was pretty good.

it was enough to keep my attention and was a good issue all in all unfortunately most people here are already ready to throw this book in the trash can after one issue...ONE ISSUE!!! that's not even giving it a chance

Or maybe because there are better books to pick up. Ironically, All New X-Men is much better and it shares the same writer?

Just saying there's a good chunk of comics people could of stopped reading after the first issue because they thought that's about as good as it's going to get...

One issue is usually enough to gage how a book is going to be in the future, especially one where the direction is presented so completely, like this one. People who don't want to see Magneto get butchered will know to stay away from this book until they hear something they like.

Maybe I shouldn't ask, but could you give me some examples? Then I might give you a better answer.

Batman - Batman always sells. IT'S FREAKING BUTMAN. Even if it's crap. Last time I read Batman it was 14 years ago. Or more. In primary school, we had a batman fan-club with friends. But it was a long time ago...
Swamp Thing - it's a niche book. The quality varies. The rotworld event made the book unreadable, but there is this "Alan Moore" stigma that makes people pick this book up. Animal Man is much much better
Uncanny Avengers - Main problem is Cassaday actually. I think that people would enjoy it much more if it was shipped regularly. The controversy of issue #1 didn't bother me much, but of course, it's only a matter of opinion. Also, Remender has some credit due to Uncanny X-Force, and people give him the benefit of the doubt. But yes, we really have to wait to see if this book works or not.
    Justice League Dark, Earth-2 - I don't read it, so I don't know.
Batwoman - I guess that people treat it as an artistic book? Something like "too deep for you"? I liked the first issues, but I think that the idea behind the book is hack/lazy and it's ok from time to time, but not if every issue has double-spreads exclusively. But the writing is good.
Young Avengers - Gillen, Gillen, and again Gillen. I didn't enjoy the book, but I respect Gillen, and again, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. If writer is respected in comic book community, the community is eager to forgive the f&#@-ups of the writer.
Morbius The Living Vampire - I hate this book. I expected some old-school horror title, and what we get is some revolution crap. Avoid this book! The art doesn't fit the character, and the plot is far from being interesting. Morbius book should be primary a horror book. What's the point of having a vampire character that acts no different from others?

I actually have faith in Bendis that Magneto is a double agent and the real traitor is elsewhere. Or at the very least there is something else going on besides MagFreakingNeto selling out Mutants to a bunch of humans.

Magneto betraying mutants to humans is so far out of character its not even a trust in Bendis thing....it just a suspension of disbelief thing.

All I will say is it is Magneto, so you know a plan is in place to get what he want what ever that may be.
