Maybe you're not sure what status quo means, because it absolutely does.

You do realise that Miles giving up being Spider-Man will only last for a few issues?

And then the status quo will change again. It doesn't necessarily mean it'll change back to exactly the way it was before. Either way, it's changing, in every sense of the definition. There's no argument here.

I suppose then that could be applied whenever any information is revealed.

That's how most status quo changes work, they're temporary, until the next change.

Yeah, but I'd say the possibility of Miles giving up Spider-man is a bigger change than most.

We still don't know how long the time jump story and issue wise will be. He could give up being Spider-Man for months to years story wise. Issue wise the time jump could take an issue or two.

During the time jump we could see all the people Miles could have helped as Spider-Man. Events with Ultimates and X-Men that he could have helped. Then he will either be forced to or gets fed up and puts the suit back on.

Just curious if all the people here who keep saying that whatever happens will be undone have actually read the Ultimate Universe books, because so far all the changes have been pretty permanent.

Personally, I hope they do time jump this series. Although I've enjoyed it, it's very similar to what we got with Peter Parker. I'd like to see Bendis' take on an experienced Ultimate Spider-Man.

No, they're not always temporary. "Status Quo" typically means "the state in which". To maintain status quo is to keep thing the way they presently are.

Yeah, but I'd say the possibility of Miles giving up Spider-man is a bigger change than most.
Not really. I could quite easily list hundreds of occurrences that could happen within a book like Ultimate Spider-Man and they'de all be much more significant changes in status quo than a mere ditching of the costume for a few issues. For instance, a more significant change would be if the cover revealed a new villain.

Now, you could say that this "change in status quo" is more significant due to the upcoming "time jump", but that's got nothing to do with what the cover depicts.
