Calling it now so that I can reference this post in May. I don't think Miles dad will die. The reason being is that this issue takes place in May and there should at least be 2-3 more issues before 23 comes out. Now unless his dad is in excruciating pain for 2-3 issues I think someone else will die. So either Miles Mom or Ganke. I'm going to go with Ganke actually. No offense to anyone but if Miles mom or dad died I just think it would turn out like the uncle Ben story and he would just continue being spider-man after learning all the power and responsibility stuff. Or it could turn out like Spider-Man 3 (ugh) and Miles throws out his costume because he has the black suit costume and does his Miles emo walk through Manhattan lol.
I was going to say that i think his Mom dies. I think it would be too obvious to have yet another male figure die in a spider-man's life. As for Ganke, i think he is a major part of comic relief in this book and obviously the only one (so far) that knows how to make the web fluid; no matter what the latest issue suggest lol. But i stand firmly saying it's Miles' mother kicking the bucket. His dad obviously has some sort of back story. We don't really know anything about Miles' mom. She fits the case well.
How does this cover indicate a major status quo shake up? There's nothing to my knowledge even slightly hinting towards a change in Miles' supporting cast.
Speak up, CBR. What do you know that we don't? What has Bendis told you?
2000-2006: Golden Age of the UU
2007-2009: Age of Loebotomy
2009-2011: Post-Ultimatum Era
2011-????: Silver Age of the UU
its probably something stupid like the symbiote gets control of Mile's dad and then as Spider Man, Miles kills his own dad without knowing that Venom is controlling him, as he lays dying the symbiote returns to the sewers and the dying body of his dad lays in front of him, the battle probably takes place in Times Square or some big place with a lot of public exposure and as the headlines start to read Spider-Man kills again Miles abandons his role as Spider Man until he learns about power and responsibility and all that other crap
I wish USM would return to its roots of standing on its own feet instead of trying to mimic 616 Spidey :(
This time jump thing sounds VERY interesting to me, and I can't wait to see how it plays out.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
So Bendis is planning a time skip, good, perhaps the series will improve.
I got to say I do see some Deja vu thing all over this preview. However, I do hope someone talks to Miles and tries to convince him not to quit as it would disrespect Peter's death and meaning of it.![]()
hm...
don't think this will end in death for either ganke, or his parents. (gwen maybe?)
but what interests me more is the idea of a time jump. is this something happening across the ultimate board? is this gonna be like dc's one year later or something?
Steve Rogers: You ready to follow Captain America into the jaws of death?
James Barnes: Hell, no! The little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb not to run away from a fight. I'm following him."

Time Jump? I'm guessing Ultimate Spider-Man 2099 is too obvious... But still.

I like Ultimate Comics. - Read them with us!
I also buy: Captain America, Avengers, FF, New Avengers, X-Factor, among others
Are you referring to Marvel Comics in general or just in the Ultimate Universe? Because, to my knowledge, this hasn't yet been done in the UU, even with Peter Parker and his impressive 170+ issues.
Miles' dad has a chance to die still. He was badly injured in #20, will be battling for his life in #21 and could either die at the end of #21 or in #22, leaving #23 as an issue where Miles grieves and reflects on his actions thus far, and the last page ends with him giving up being Spider-Man.
Then, in #24 it'll jump ahead and deal with him trying to live a life free of the power and responsibility, until someone else close to him, like his mom, Ganke or his cute little girlfriend, gets put in danger and then in #25 (which is typically an anniversary issue with more pages than normal) will have him suit up again and come to the rescue, and he'll realize he's made a mistake by giving up the webs and continues on as an older, wiser, ULTIMATE Spider-Man.

Ghostbusters • Injustice: Gods Among Us • Invincible • Invincible Universe • The Manhattan Projects • Superior Spider-Man • Ultimate Spider-Man • Ultimates • Ultimate X-Men • The Walking Dead
So they are making a big deal out of it. Kind of glad I noticed that artwork last Friday before they changed it in the Axel-In-Charge with Bendis. I hope the time skip isn't too big.
