Appearance of Avengers Mansion question.
I've recently been re-reading my "Infinity" trades (Infinity Gauntlet, Infinity War, and Infinity Crusade). Does anyone know why Avengers Mansion appears as a white concrete building with a huge "A" near the entrance in stead of the traditional mansion? Has this ever been explained or was it just a continuity error?

Let's see if I can do this all from memory.....okay, so Avengers Mansion at one point was relocated to Hydrobase (an artificial island off the coast of NY), I think after the Masters of Evil smashed it all up? Then during the Acts of Vengeance crossover Dr Doom sent Doombots to sink Hydrobase, mansion and all.
The Avengers needed a new headquarters so they rebuilt on the site of the original mansion, but this time they designed a whole new building (which is the one in the Infinity trades). That building was then destroyed during the Gatherers storyline, and an alternate universe's Watcher gave them a replica of their original mansion back during the same storyline. The replica mansion was pretty much the same, except that it had a weird spooky door in the basement which had never been there before, and then all of that led into the Crossing...
*checks wikipedia*
YES! I don't understand how I can remember minute details of comics from 20+ years ago but it does come in handy every now and then, lol :)

Ok, so I knew MOST of that except for the part about the Avengers rebuilding a modern building on the site of the old mansion. Thanks for the info!
