I felt the same way. An artist drew dinosaurs and actually did *gasp* research! We usually get a terribly proportioned T. Rex with three fingers.

Is anyone else worried that there was no Avengers Assemble solicits? I've really enjoyed Kelly Sue DeConnick's work and hope the book wasn't axed.

None of the groups have had full solicitations revealed.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The solicitations for Young Avengers are more entertaining than some titles' entire issues.

They're one of the comic-related things I look forward to most each month. And it looks like we're going to get some (limited) Loki-answers! Awesome.

Does this month see the return of the dreaded Chicken Cow?!

I don't know who "the boys" refers to, but I hope "the boys go hunting for dinosaurs" involves Hawkeye shooting a boomerang arrow at a stegosaur.

I'm not even sure 'check yourself' even works in that context since that usually applies to perceived privilege. Considering he's arguing in favor of an underdog . . . yeah, i don't get it.

Hey, settle down with the ad hominim attacks.
Support titles that need supporting. Quit buying, reading and complaining about comics you don't enjoy.

Shang-Chi? Snooze. Seriously, can't the martial arts characters not be in Avengers? So very dull. And then Hyperion and Capt. Universe. Actually, in general I'm getting a bit irritated already with the focus on all the new characters in this title. There are tons of great former Avengers, who could use some writing. I don't really need the book to be about a Superman pastiche. If I wanted that, I'd probably just read Superman.

Just makes me frustrated that there's no Uncanny Avengers solicit. I think that's really the book I want to read (even if it does have godawful Wolverine in it), so I wish it were coming out more than three times a year.

Avengers Assemble gives a pretty descent attention to the classic Avengers. That's the nice thing about having so many Avengers books... there's a little bit of something for everyone.

Weaver's blog reports that there's no reason for the costumes on that cover to be japanese rather than Chinese. It was just a goofup/miscommunication.

Apparently his instructions where just "asian-inspired costumes" (which is really vague, obviously) and anime was the first thing that came to mind.

And here I was hoping the Hong Kong part was a nod to the original Ghost in the Shell film.

Cap and Hawkeye are arguably martial arts characters as well, so do you argue against them being on the Avengers too? And what about Black Widow?

But I digress, this is a new start for the Avengers with new characters, so why shouldn't they get some focus every now and then? Most of the original characters are making appearances elsewhere, so it's not as though they have no other opportunity to develop. Yes, Hyperion is very derivative of Superman, but you won't get the same team chemistry from reading a Superman book instead. And frankly, his past still isn't fully clear nor is his purpose, so it's too early to make a judgement call like that. As for Captain Universe, she's central to the plot at hand, so of course she should get some focus.
