Definitely the best issue so far. Excited to see where/how Slott takes the struggle between Peter and Ock. Not sure how I feel about rotating artists already.
Really loved this issue! So...is Adrian dead, or just injured? Still, it's good to see Otto have some genuine moral fiber. The only thing I have against this series as that they revealed Ghost!Peter too soon. I mean, this was always going to be temporary but since we know more or less "how" Peter's going to come back...I just want it to hurry up now!
I think he was just injured pretty bad, but we'll have to wait and see.
The art is bad, especially compared with what you see in other marvel now! titles. Female characters are all pin-ups, male characters are all body-builders, it seems to be one of those absurd Liefeld comics. But I concede that Ramos on #700 was even worst.
The story is fun, although I feel they could have used much better the one-page-one devoted to Octopus past. So, he grow up in a poor family and his father hit him on lights left turned on. Really? Really??? Stan Lee would have never come out with something so trivial for such an important character.
Doc Ock's abusive father has been established in earlier stories, this isn't something Slott's inserted. Don't think it was Stan Lee either though - the first one I read was a Spider-Man Unlimited story.
And I'm not sure what would count as non-trivial for Otto's childhood - being raised by literal octopi?
Ιt was DeFalco who created an origin for Doc Ock.Still, all the signs of Octavius' personality screamed that he had a rough childhood.
