What did they do about the Batman appearances in 'The Monolith' collection?

I'd really like to get The Monolith hardcover collection, as I remember being a fan of the original DC series. But I was wondering what Image have done with the Batman appearances? I don't remember the issues too well, but if they were left out of this collection entirely, then I think we'd be missing some important scenes and character development. Perhaps they were edited? Does anyone know?

From what I've heard the trade collects only the first three issues, before Batman appears.

I believe the 2nd volume will include the issues with that originally had Batman in them and they're just creating someone new to overlay over where Bats would be.
