The comics Attack is based in WW2. I don't know much about the comic itself though.
It may not be quite what you're looking for, but Larry Gonick's Cartoon History of the Universe/Modern World books are quite good and entertaining.
I'll definitely second 'Charley's War' and 'It Was War In The Trenches', and Larry Gonick's stuff is always worth having on your shelves.

'Berlin' by Jason Lutes is a ridiculously good drama series set in Berlin between the first and second World Wars.
There are current two trades, 'Berlin: City of Stones' and 'Berlin: City of Smoke'.
