Namor is not Asian.

If the new retcon of Captain Nemo being his dad holds, then yes, Namor is half Asian.

Personally, I HATE that retcon and hope it dies, but I have no problems with Namor being cast in a movie as Asian. After all, neither Heimdall or Nick Fury are black either, but were cast black for the movies.

He basically already played Namor in the Tudors, so he'd definitely fit well in the role. I doubt he'd want to be typecast as that kind of character though.

I haven't seen it, but it appears to be where the fancasting for Jonathan Rhys Meyers for Namor is coming from.

He doesn't have the body for Namor. You'd need someone more manly. He is supposed to tiny. I heard he wore heels all the way through the tudors.

I forget who said it, but Namor should have a masculine physical presence that is dynamic and intimidating. I don't really get that from Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

I wouldn't have a problem with it at all. I just think it's weird that the poster was acting like it would be "out of race casting" to cast him as white, when that's not at all the case.

At least until the Nemo retcon, but even then I figured the poster meant East Asian. Most people who say Namor is Asian mean East Asian. Which is random (outside of the upcoming X-Treme issue and some WWII era "otherness" readings).
