Yes, and no. I mean if you look at the way Alan Davis drew Brian it was very distinctively British. Also very distinctively 1980s admitedly, but very much a British guy.
The original, 1970s, Captain britain very much had Brian styled in an aesthetic style which had far more in common with Dan Dare or Roy of the Rovers than American comics - something which Chris Claremont has said that he and Herb Trimpe did very much intentionally.
I guess what I'm saying is that in casting Captain Britain we should probably be aiming for somebody who looks far more like David Beckham than Channing Tatum. :)
Though obviously NOT David Beckham, becausse embassador for all that is British though he is, that would sound RIDICULOUS.
Over on the Captain Britain & MI13 thread I've previously suggested Game of Thrones' Nikolaj Coster-Waldau - who is Danish, but practically looks like he was drawn by Alan Davis. :)
I do also agree that while it may seem logical in comics to keep him in step with the age of Peter Parker, in a movie context it is far more sensible to have an older actor playing the character. We don't have many British teen actors who would be even close to capable of playing the part, for a start. And people start mentioning the terrible Bradley James from BBC's godawful Merlin, which starts to get my blood boiling... :)
